Traits

Imp

Imp

Species: Elnin (Faenin subtype)
Category: Tail Style

Imp tails are similar in appearance to chameleon or possum tails. It has been observed that the majority of imp tails have stripes along the tail's length. These tails are dexterous and prehensile, as well as capable of gripping items, hanging from things, etc. They're more stout than sylph tails and lack the extra winglets on the end that accompany them.

Trait Examples
imp-tail-1.jpgThick Imp
imp-tail-2.jpg Imp w/ Tight Curl
imp-tail-3.jpgImp w/ Big Curl

Details:

  • These tails should curl at the end like a chameleon tail.
  • These tails can have a split at the end of their tail similar to a snake's tongue. Tails with a split at the end are not required to curl at the end like their non-split counterparts.

Notes:

If you switch out from a faenin tail style then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another faenin tail style if you prefer, though.

Overwild

Overwild

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

A tail style with a wild nature to it. This tail style will always specify a variant to indicate what types of tails it features.

This tail is a 5MP tail style. The 5MP does not include MP spent on tail sizing/length.

Aquatic Variant

This tail style allows your nin to have a tail with an aquatic flare to it. (This tail style variant was previously called "Undine"!)

Details:

  • Aquatic life only, nothing partially aquatic/land like crocodiles, water snakes, etc.
  • Expanding on the above, we're trying to avoid reptile/dragon-y tails (we're aiming for fishy/aquatic tails here. If you're aiming dragon that's more aligned with the djinn subtype and we want these two subtypes to be distinct in that regard). Unfortunately this means stingray tails are not allowed. (There is not enough fin present on these!)
  • Leafy sea dragon tails are allowed. Keep in mind these are referring to the earth animals, and not the mythical creature. Shellfish tails like lobster/crayfish tail styles are allowed. (We will be reviewing these tails on a case-by-case basis to ensure they remain looking appropriately aquatic and may ask for revisions if anything appears to be straying too far from this trait's guidelines.)
  • This tail style will follow a similar rule to Hybrid tails relative to multi tail mutations (Twin, Trine, Tetra, Hydra). This means:
    • A tail with a single tentacle with no splits or webbing would count as just an overwild (aquatic) tail.
    • If you want to "branch" your tentacles any separations will need to be further down the tail/not at the base to count as an overwild aquatic tail without the hydra mutation. This approach can also have webbing but the important part is that there is only a single "trunk" for a good portion of the elnin's tail before the tentacles start to split.
    • If you want to do multiple singular tentacles starting at the base of the butt, they would be considered independent "tails", even with webbing between them and therefore require the Hydra mutation.
Mini Guides
overwild-aquatic-tentacles-1.jpgoverwild-aquatic-tentacles-2.jpgStandalone Overwild (aquatic) tailsOverwild (aquatic) tail + Hydra mutation

We're still checking on a few things, specifically:

  • Some clarifiers on sea slug tails, since we know of one that exists but it follows the hybrid multi-tail guidelines better than some others.
  • Sea horse tails specifically (not counting leafy sea dragon tails), given without the rest of the sea horse they could fall into an odd place (ie. No fins, looks more like an Imp faenin tail or reptile tail, etc.).

Due to the tail type's broadness much like some crown types this tail type will likely be very case by case if it's not a very well defined finned fish tail. With that in mind, please reach out to us via site ticket or in #design_feedback on our discord (phrased as a general question) with visual examples when possible, if you're at all concerned a tail style that may come up later in an approval. We'll be going based off of what we know and if guidelines are pushed just keep in mind responses will be slow.

Tetra (Legacy)

Tetra (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Details:

  • Quadruple of  Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Tetra Tail mutation.
Trine (Legacy)

Trine (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Trait Examples
trine-legacy-tail-1.jpg0 MP Trine (Legacy)
trine-legacy-tail-2.jpg1 MP Trine (Legacy)
trine-legacy-tail-3.jpg1 MP Trine (Legacy)

Details:

  • A triad of Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Trine Tail mutation.

Notes:

Kittoms with this tail style at the time of growth can have their tail style swapped to the Meadow tail style with the Trine Tail mutation at no cost. If you wish to keep the legacy mutation, then you would not acquire the tail mutation.

This option is for only kittoms that are growing. The Trine (Legacy) tail style would change from a 4 MP tail to the Meadow 1 MP tail style so growth stats will reflect that change! This change would be permanent and cannot be undone.

Twin (Legacy)

Twin (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Trait Examples
twin-legacy-tail-1.jpg0 MP Twin (Legacy)

Details:

  • A pair of Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Twin Tail mutation.
Bosk (Legacy)

Bosk (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Trait Examples
bosk-tail-1.jpgStandard Bosk
bosk-tail-2.jpgStandard Bosk
bosk-tail-3.jpgStandard Bosk

Details:

  • This tail style resembles a straighter German shepherd dog tail. The fur along the top side of Bosk tails lays mostly flat with only a few shorter strands sticking up and the bulk of the fur drapes down, layering over one another. Fur should be thicker at the tail base and middle of the tail and taper towards the tail tip! Tails can be held upright and perky or lower.

Legacy:

  • Merged into Meadow.

Notes:

If you wish to follow current tail guidelines, elnin with this tail style can be swapped to the Meadow tail style at no cost. This change would be permanent and cannot be undone.

Sylph

Sylph

Species: Elnin (Faenin subtype)
Category: Tail Style

Sylph tails are flexible, whip-like tails that have a tapered shape and additional winglet plumage at the end.

Trait Examples
sylph-tail-1.jpgStandard Sylph
sylph-tail-2.jpgStandard Sylph
sylph-tail-3.jpgInfused Sylph

Details:

  • Sylph tails are flexible but they lack the extra muscle and dexterity that imp tails have.
  • Sylph tail sizing is measured from the base of the tail to the end of the main part of the winglet plumage at the end. Streamers are not included in this sizing but must be kept very thin if they’re extending past the main part of the plumage.

Notes:

If you switch out from a faenin tail style then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another faenin tail style if you prefer, though.

Puca

Puca

Species: Elnin (Faenin subtype)
Category: Tail Style

Puca tails are furred tails with a bulb shape. These tails can show markings partially while eventually fading into an anima-colored tip or they can simply be an anima-colored bulb, often resembling a firefly bulb that is also capable of glowing thanks to luminous anima.

These tails cannot be larger than standard (1 MP) sized.

Trait Examples
puca-tail-1.jpgPuca w/ Colored Tip
puca-tail-2.jpgPuca Firefly Bulb
puca-tail-3.jpgPuca w/ Beetle Shell
puca-tail-4.jpgPuca w/ Starlit Suffusion

Details:

  • You can’t see the center of the puca tail and they aren't hollow with bubbles like anima is but fleshy instead. The color more or less is showing through a furred layer which means only the color adjacent mutations will affect them. For example:
    • Prismatic Anima
    • Dual-toned Anima
    • Mutations with two (2) colors evenly (like heterochromia, odd-eyed, chimeric anima) would function with either a 50/50 gradient of both colors or either one of the colors solidly through.
  • The bulb should follow the base anima color essentially.
  • What else affects puca tails?
    • Luminous Anima
    • Emberglow Suffusion
    • Starlit Suffusion
  • What doesn’t affect puca tails?
    • Fae Accent Color
    • Decora Anima
    • Starlit Anima
    • Emberglow Anima

Notes:

If you switch out from a faenin tail style then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another faenin tail style if you prefer, though.

Spellform

Spellform

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown
  • Spellforms are similar to sigil crowns except that they are more structured, and are bound within some type of design border (most often circular, but can have angular boundaries as well). Spellforms can have multiple sections as long as they are all connected, and can contain symbols in both vertical and horizontal alignments.
    • Can also contain lines that create specific imagery (stars, moons, etc).
    • Example: a single plane (vertical) spellform crown (ELN265)
Faerie Orb

Faerie Orb

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown
  • (previously "Sprite", split from "Orbital"): Resembles a small glowing orb with faerie wings, not sentient. This type of crown has a bit higher range of movement, and is able to float or rest pretty much anywhere around their elnin's body. Faerie orbs give off a glimmering sort of light and may also display subtle particle trails.
Flora

Flora

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown
  • (previously "Living", split from "Orbital") : Resembles a diminutive living plant or flower. This type of crown is not exactly mobile, but it can bloom if based on flowers, or wilt or shift colors if it has leaves (green to golden, etc following natural seasonal shadings). Flora crowns are actual plants, and can lose petals or provide pollen just like any other type of plant. A fruit crown could, theoretically, be eaten, but it would be exceptionally disturbing for most elnins (not quite cannibalism level weirdness, but it would be like if someone wanted to eat your hair or fingernail clippings).
Fauna

Fauna

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Resembles a diminutive living creature, not sentient. Can be things like fish, bugs, birds, frogs, etc. Any small, relatively simple animal would be acceptable.

Trait Examples
crown-fauna-1.jpg Axolotl
crown-fauna-2.jpg Bat
crown-fauna-3.jpg Fish

Details:

  • Rule of Palm: The creature in a fauna crown should be able to fit in the palm of your hand in its real-world equivalent. So something like a deer would obviously not fit in the palm of your hand, even if it's drawn to be miniature it would still not be allowed.
  • The designs of the animals should be simplified, rather than true-to-life versions. For example if your creature is a snake, you should not be drawing every scale on it and nictitating eyelids.
  • A small fantasy tweak can be added to the creature, but overall it should be a recognizable real-world animal. If you are submitting a fantasy-esque creature design please be aware that, if approved, it would be accepted into the canon of Eyre and considered a part of the World of Eyre. Any fauna crown creature design would be able to be drawn by other community members in prompts and activities.
  • This type of crown has some mobility, but can only occupy the space around an Elnin's head (resting on an ear, floating in different positions, etc). It cannot sit on the shoulder or back and must stay around the head.  Unfortunately, this does not currently apply to masterlist art and is more of a lore tidbit! Please keep fauna crowns on the masterlist floating above the elnin's head.
  • Fauna crowns should not have more than one animal.

  • Previously known as "Mimic", split from "Orbital"
