Mini Guides
bulb-extra.png Bulb Tail Examples - Bulb (Fiendish) on top and Bulb (Fae) on the bottom.

Details:

  • This tail's features vary depending on the associated subtype.
  • These tails cannot be larger than standard (1 MP) sized.
  • Optional tail-base winglets present on this tail style must match the associated subtype.
  • Formerly for Faenin this was called the "Puca" tail style.

For Faenin / Bulb (Fae) tails:

  • Bulb (Fae) tails are furred tails with a bulb shape. These tails can show markings partially while eventually fading into an anima-colored tip or they can simply be an anima-colored bulb, often resembling a firefly bulb that is also capable of glowing thanks to luminous anima. They will be labeled "Fae".
  • You can’t see the center of Bulb (fae) tails, since they aren't gummy with bubbles like anima. These tails are fleshy on the inside. The anima color more or less shows through a furred layer, which means only the color adjacent anima mutations will affect them. For example:
  • Prismatic Anima, Dual-toned Anima, and mutations with two (2) colors evenly (like heterochromia, odd-eyed, chimeric anima) would function with either a 50/50 gradient of both colors or either one of the colors solidly through.
  • The bulb on Bulb (Fae) tails should follow the base anima color essentially.
  • What else affects Bulb (Fae) tails? Luminous Anima, Emberglow Suffusion, and Starlit Suffusion all affect bulb tails for faenin.
  • What doesn’t affect Bulb (Fae) tails? Fae Accent Color, Decora Anima, Starlit Anima, and Emberglow Anima do not affect bulb tails for faenin.

For Djinnin / Bulb (Fiendish) tails:

  • The Bulb (Fiendish) tail style encompasses very short thick reptile-like tails (think gecko tails). This tail style is not limited to just a gecko-looking tail in texture, they can have tails that are bumpy or smooth.
  • The winglets near the tail base would be batwing-like, and labeled "Fiendish".

For ??? / Bulb (Feathered) tails:

  • The winglets near the tail base would be birdwing-like, and labeled "Feathered".

Notes:

  • If you switch out from a subtype tail style, then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another subtype tail style (within the same subtype) if you prefer, though.
  • For example: If you have a "Bulb (Fae)" tail style, you could switch it out for a "Flare (fae)" style tail. You cannot switch across subtypes though, so a "Bulb (Fiendish)" could not be swapped out for a "Bulb (Fae)" or "Flare (Fae)" style tail, and so on.
  • If your elnin's Bulb tail subtype is not specified please submit a support ticket to clarify which tail subtype your elnin has. If a tail subtype is not specified, this does not mean you can choose any tail subtype. Staff will have to determine which type your elnin was granted and make sure that detail is specified on the masterlist before a design approval goes through for that elnin.

Lore for Bulb (Fiendish):

Elnin can intentionally drop their tail but it would in some ways be a short-cut to the more standard mindful sizing down of an elnin's tail.

  • Tail "dropping" in this scenario is not painful to the elnin in any way and there is no blood!
  • The dropped tail will steadily shimmer away in the few minutes following it being dropped as the mana it held is shed. (And we are talking only a few like maybe 1-2 minutes.)
  • Any visible fleshy tail bits would heal relatively quickly back to show an elnin with just a smaller sized version of the tail in place of the one that was dropped. (Mana would like gore to be avoided in the group.)
  • Similar to scenarios when an elnin's hair is cut rather than shortened by their own will, this process is a bit tiring even if it is not painful. An elnin's mana isn't really being conserved here it's being tossed out in the short term. So while this might be a very fast way of decreasing tail size it's generally not the preferred method for elnin wanting to decrease their tail size.
  • Masterlist art cannot show a dropped tail.
  • At best this could make for a good prank, but shouldn't be blown out of proportion. ^^;; Please try to be reasonable. We want to allow for some fun here but if it ends up causing problems where people are submitting gore heavy prompts or obscuring backgrounds with tactfully placed dropped tails we may have to ask this be kept to side stories not pictured in the group.
Flare

Flare

Species: Elnin (Variable subtype)
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

Flare tails are flexible tails that taper and have additional winglet plumage at the end.

Trait Examples
flare-tail-1.jpgFlare (Fae)
flare-tail-2.jpgFlare (Fae)
flare-tail-3.jpgInfused size Flare (Fae)
Mini Guides
flare-extra.png Flare Tail Examples - Flare (Fiendish) on top and Flare (Fae) on the bottom.

Details:

  • Flare tails are flexible but they lack the extra muscle and dexterity that Whip tails have.
  • This tail style's thickness can vary but the tail base should never be thicker than the elnin’s body and must taper all the way down to the tail tip where the winglet plumage sits.
  • Flare tail sizing is measured from the base of the tail to the end of the winglet plumage, minus streamers.
  • Streamers are considered to be any small thin line drawn near a wing tip, and they must be kept very thin and minimal if they’re extending past the main part of the plumage.
  • The tail tip winglet plumage can appear to be two overlapping wing sets, but only at the very tip of the tail on flare style tails.
  • Tail tip winglet plumage and optional tail-base winglets present on this tail style must match the associated subtype.
  • Formerly for Faenin this was called the "Sylph" tail style.

For Faenin / Flare (Fae) tails:

  • The associated plumage would be butterfly or moth-like, and labeled "Fae".

For Djinnin / Flare (Fiendish) tails:

  • The associated plumage would be batwing-like, and labeled "Fiendish".
  • This tail can optionally have a spade at the tail's tip near the tail tip plumage. See the above mini guide's Flare (Fiendish) example.

For ??? / Flare (Feathered) tails:

  • The associated plumage would be birdwing-like, and labeled "Feathered".

Notes:

  • If you switch out from a subtype tail style, then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another subtype tail style (within the same subtype) if you prefer, though.
  • For example: If you have a "Flare (Fae)" tail style you could switch it out for a "Bulb (Fae)" style tail. You cannot switch across subtypes though, so a "Bulb (Fiendish)" could not be swapped out for a "Flare (Fae)" or "Whip (Fae)" style tail, and so on.
  • If your elnin's Flare tail subtype is not specified please submit a support ticket to clarify which tail subtype your elnin has. If a tail subtype is not specified, this does not mean you can choose any tail subtype. Staff will have to determine which type your elnin was granted and make sure that detail is specified on the masterlist before a design approval goes through for that elnin.
Multi-Tail (Legacy)

Multi-Tail (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Details:

  • Cases of multiple Bramble (Legacy) tails.

Legacy:

  • This tail style was separated into the Twin (Legacy), Trine (Legacy), Tetra (Legacy), and Hydra (Legacy) tail styles.
Shoal

Shoal

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

A furry tail with a fishy flare.

Trait Examples
shoal-tail-1.jpgMiniature Shoal
shoal-tail-2.jpgStandard Shoal
shoal-tail-3.jpgInfused Shoal
shoal-tail-4.jpgInfused Shoal

Details:

  • Standard shoals have a large tuft of fur at the base of the tail as well as a fin-shaped fan at the end of the tail.
  • There is always at least a partial section in the middle that is mostly sleek short fur and lacking excessive fluff.
  • The "fin" shaped fur placements are always vertical. Horizontal alignments are only present on hybrid versions.
Tetra (Legacy)

Tetra (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Details:

  • Quadruple of  Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Tetra Tail mutation.
Trine (Legacy)

Trine (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Trait Examples
trine-legacy-tail-1.jpg0 MP Trine (Legacy)
trine-legacy-tail-2.jpg1 MP Trine (Legacy)
trine-legacy-tail-3.jpg1 MP Trine (Legacy)

Details:

  • A triad of Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Trine Tail mutation.

Notes:

Kittoms with this tail style at the time of growth can have their tail style swapped to the Meadow tail style with the Trine Tail mutation at no cost. If you wish to keep the legacy mutation, then you would not acquire the tail mutation.

This option is for only kittoms that are growing. The Trine (Legacy) tail style would change from a 4 MP tail to the Meadow 1 MP tail style so growth stats will reflect that change! This change would be permanent and cannot be undone.

Twin (Legacy)

Twin (Legacy)

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

This is a legacy tail style that is no longer obtainable. It cannot pass through breedings.

Trait Examples
twin-legacy-tail-1.jpg0 MP Twin (Legacy)

Details:

  • A pair of Bramble (Legacy) style tails!

Legacy:

  • Retired in favor of the Twin Tail mutation.
Welkin

Welkin

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

Welkin tails are characterized by their silky spiraling swirls. These distinct shapes are caused by underlying energy whorls that often look artificially distinct in shape when compared to natural curls.

Tail Structure Guide
tail-guide-welkin.png
Trait Examples
welkin-tail-1.jpgStandard /w Starlit Suffusion
welkin-tail-2.jpgMiniature Welkin
welkin-tail-3.jpgStandard /w Starlit Suffusion

Details:

  • Welkin tails are not truly weightless, but the hair is so light and delicate that it tends to billow outwards in fluffy clouds.
  • Despite their delicate nature Welkin tails still abide by gravity and should not have much if any lift without the featherlight hair mutation present. Similar to how fog rests on hills, welkin tails still rest on the ground at larger sizes.
Whip

Whip

Species: Elnin (Variable subtype)
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

Whip tails are tails that taper, similar to possum or chameleon tails. These tails are dexterous and prehensile, as well as capable of gripping items, hanging from things, etc. The biggest difference between whip and flare tails is that they lack the extra winglets on the end that accompany them and flare tails are not dexterous or prehensile at all.

Trait Examples
whip-tail-1.jpgThick Whip (Fae)
whip-tail-2.jpg Whip (Fae) w/Optional Tight Curl
whip-tail-3.jpgWhip (Fae) w/Optional Big Curl
Mini Guides
whip-extra.png Whip Tail Examples - Whip (Fiendish) on top and Whip (Fae) on the bottom.

Details:

  • These tails can have a split at the very end of their tail, similar to a snake's tongue. Tails with a split at the end are not required to curl at the end like their non-split counterparts.
  • This tail style's thickness can vary but the tail base should never be thicker than the elnin’s body and must taper all the way down to the tail tip (or tips if the tail is split at the very end).
  • These tails are prehensile and can optionally curl or grip better than their similar but plumed flare tail counterparts.
  • It has been observed that the majority of whip tails have stripes along the tail's length but this is an optional feature.
  • Optional tail-base winglets present on this tail style must match the associated subtype.
  • Formerly for Faenin this was called the "Imp" tail style.

For Faenin / Whip (Fae) tails:

  • The winglets near the tail base would be butterfly or moth-like, and labeled "Fae".

For Djinnin / Whip (Fiendish) tails:

  • The winglets near the tail base would be batwing-like, and labeled "Fiendish".
  • This tail can optionally have a spade at the tail's tip(s).

For ??? / Whip (Feathered) tails:

  • The winglets near the tail base would be birdwing-like, and labeled "Feathered".

Notes:

  • If you switch out from a subtype tail style, then you will not be able to opt back in later. You can swap to another subtype tail style (within the same subtype) if you prefer, though.
  • For example: If you have a "Whip (Fae)" tail style you could switch it out for a "Flare (Fae)" style tail. You cannot switch across subtypes though, so a "Whip (Fiendish)" could not be swapped out for a "Whip (Fae)" or "Flare (Fae)" style tail, and so on.
  • If your elnin's Whip tail subtype is not specified please submit a support ticket to clarify which tail subtype your elnin has. If a tail subtype is not specified, this does not mean you can choose any tail subtype. Staff will have to determine which type your elnin was granted and make sure that detail is specified on the masterlist before a design approval goes through for that elnin.
Zephyr

Zephyr

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 4

Zephyr tails have a windswept, feathery quality but no actual feathers. They are in fact made entirely of strands of fur. The supporting tail limb is usually held upright, causing a pronounced arc and elegant fall of fur that sometimes brings to mind the shape of a rooster's tail.

tail-guide-zephyr.png
Trait Examples
zephyr-tail-1.jpgMiniature Zephyr
zephyr-tail-2.jpgStandard Zephyr
zephyr-tail-3.jpgStandard Zephyr
zephyr-tail-4.jpgMiniature Zephyr

Details:

  • Zephyrs often sport additional streamers of fur that flare stylishly from the base of the tail.
  • This is not a feathered tail. The fur is just prone to separating into sections that can arc in feather-like ways.
