No Tail

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Style

Tail MP: 0

It’s a cute, round butt.

4 MP Tail Size: Giga

4 MP Tail Size: Giga

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Size

At this size, an elnin can basically circulate ambient energy through themselves to support any extra sizing. If your elnin looks like it could host a sleepover in its tail then it's probably giga…

Body size for elnin does not include the head! Body length would be measured roughly from the front of their shoulder to the back of their thigh, and body height would be from the top of an elnin's back to their toe tips.

Elongated Tail Sizing Guide

Round Tail Sizing Guide:
elnin-anatomy-tails-pt-2.png

Details:

Tail styles fall into two categories! Those categories affect their size standards and are listed below:

  • Elongated:
    • Anything not listed in the "Round" category.
  • Round:
    • Warren
    • Canopy
  • Either:
    • Welkin
      • If you have an elongated welkin tail then it should have a two (2) to one (1) body size ratio.
  • Neither:
    • Bulb tails cannot be this size.

Notes:

Currently, there is no upper limit, however, if pushed too extreme we may be required to implement one. Fluff responsibly! ( 3 < )

3 MP Tail Size: Infused

3 MP Tail Size: Infused

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Size

Infused tails are visibly larger than standard sizes due to having a higher than normal mana capacity. If your elnin looks like it could probably use its tail as a comfortable bed then it's probably an infused size…

Body size for elnin does not include the head! Body length would be measured roughly from the front of their shoulder to the back of their thigh, and body height would be from the top of an elnin's back to their toe tips.

      • If you have an elongated welkin tail then it should have a two (2) to one (1) body size ratio.
      • For example, a 1 MP elongated welkin tail will be a max of two (2) body lengths long and roughly no higher than one (1) body length tall. If you want a rounder look you would do a welkin tail that is one (1) body length long by one (1) body length tall.
  • Neither:
    • Bulb tails cannot be this size.
1 MP Tail Size: Standard

1 MP Tail Size: Standard

Species: Elnin
Category: Tail Size

This tail size is considered the baseline shape/size for all tail types. Standard tails should feel like they're more or less balanced in size with the rest of the body.

Body size for elnin does not include the head! Body length would be measured roughly from the front of their shoulder to the back of their thigh, and body height would be from the top of an elnin's back to their toe tips.

glade-tail-2.jpgMiniature Glade
glade-tail-3.jpgStyled Glade
glade-tail-4.jpgBeaded Glade w/ Featherlight Hair

Details:

  • Nothing too tricky about glades. You are welcome to adjust the volume of the tail higher if you'd like an especially teased look or lower if you want a more sleek style.
  • Glade tail strands should be fairly uniform in strand length.
  • This tail type can be styled like long strands of hair with beads or braid inclusions. Just keep in mind braided glade tails should be shorter than the sizing guideline by a bit to account for the hair being longer when loose/not braided. Be sure to check and ask stylization questions in the sketch phase of any design approval!

Classic Diadem

Classic Diadem

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Crown MP: 1

Similar in appearance to a traditional crown or tiara.

Trait Examples

classic-diadem-crown-3.jpgClassic Diadem
Mini Guides
crown-guide-diadems-incorrect.png Note: There are some legacy Classic Diadem crowns that have shaped accent stones but will not be allowed going forward.

Details:

  • There shouldn't be any attachments to the crown that look like specific things (wings/flowers/etc).
  • The metal should be ordinary silver or any of the "yellow range" metals such as gold/bronze/copper and the like.
  • Can have either a single smallish sized attached accent stone or up to three tiny sized attached accent stones. The stone(s) should not have a specific shape (for example: no hearts or stars), and should be the same color as the elnin's anima.
  • Crowns should be simple in shape and mirrored on both sides.

Lore:

  • Classic crowns are considered the original, truest versions of each crown type. These closely resemble the oldest forms of elnin crowns.

Legacy

  • Previously Simple Traditional.
Witchlight

Witchlight

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Crown MP: 4

Treasure crowns are the upgraded version of Trinket crowns.

Trait Examples
crown-witchlight-1.jpg Witchlight
crown-witchlight-2.jpg Witchlight
crown-witchlight-3.jpg Witchlight

Details:

  • Can be any color or combination of colors.
  • Witchlight crowns can have some particle/glow effects.
  • Fire edges should appear sharp to avoid being confused for a cloudlet crown!
  • Any patterning you wouldn't normally associate with a little ball of fire should be avoided.
  • There should be no eyespots present.

Lore:

  • Elnins can use witchlight crowns to ignite items stuck into them at will, and the resulting flame will burn the color of the crown for quite some time before eventually returning to the orange hues of an ordinary fire. This means that an elnin with a witchlight crown is often a welcome member of any expeditionary party, since they can light a campfire with very little fuss.

Legacy:

  • Split from "Elemental/Wisp".
  • "Eyespots" are a legacy feature and are no longer allowed on normal witchlight crowns. Ex: (ELN141ELN625 )
Treasure

Treasure

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Crown MP: 4

Treasure crowns are the upgraded version of Trinket crowns.

Trait Examples
crown-treasure-1.jpg Treasure
crown-treasure-2.jpg Treasure
crown-treasure-3.jpg Treasure

Details:

  • Treasure crowns are:
    • Complex items
    • Items that are large in size
    • A mix of different items that read as one cohesive item.
    • An item accompanied by very minimal jewelry embellishments.
  • Treasure crowns should be attached as one piece.
  • Treasure crowns may not resemble weapons without knight or champion training.
  • If there are diadem traits shown as a part of a treasure crown, then it will be considered a hybrid crown. If you want to do a plush crown, that’s acceptable here as it is not acceptable in the diadem tier.

Legacy:

  • Previously known as Item/Bauble/Trinket.
Trinket

Trinket

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Crown MP: 3

Trinket crowns are small and simple items or shapes.

Trait Examples
trinket-3.jpg A Shell
trinket-1.jpg Simple Star Shapes
trinket-2.jpg A Simple Skull

Details:

  • In order to be simple enough to classify as a Trinket crown instead of a Treasure crown your design must be either only 1 material or only 2 colors.
    • If there is more than 1 material, there must be 2 or less colors.
      • Colors should stay as flat as possible and not involve strong gradients to count as "1 color".
    • If there is more than 2 colors, there must be only 1 material.
      • "Material" is flexible. It could be something you would normally think of like wood, stone, cloth, or it could be something like candy! It should just be something homogeneous.
  • The item should only be one distinct object. Not one object on top of or attached to another object.
  • You can have up to three of the same item if they are identical in appearance (you may vary their size a bit though).
  • Avoid engravings as they often add more intricacy/detail to a design that might push it into Treasure rather than Trinket.
  • To avoid being mistaken for Fauna or Flora crowns, Trinkets should be inanimate/not living.  This also means they should not resemble something animate or living. For example a metal leaf would not be allowed.
    • Exceptions: shells, a bone, a skull
  • If it's a food item make it clearly food and not just raw meat / animal parts
  • Trinket crowns cannot resemble weapons.
  • Trinket crowns should not glow (no glowing moons/stars/lanterns/etc).

Legacy:

  • Previously 4MP. Split into Trinket / Treasure to account for varying design complexity.
Infused Fractal

Infused Fractal

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Details:

  • Infused fractals are most of the feature of classic fractals with a few notable upgrades.
  • Can be any color.
  • Can be opaque (stone textured).
  • Can be larger.
  • Can have many fragments.
  • Shape should always be somewhat natural: rounded stones, crystalline shards, etc.
  • The surface should be smooth aside for potentially:
    • Typical crystal facets.
    • A couple of small swirly caved designs.
  • The fragments are similar to elnin horns in appearance with a semi-transparent surface and a core full of stiny suspended bubbles.
  • Fractal crown pieces should not imitate geometric shapes like cubes, pyramids, cut diamonds, etc. They should also not imitate specific inorganic shapes like a carved gem wing, etc.
  • What mutations affect this crown?
    • YES: Dual-toned Anima, Anima Patterning, Gilded Anima, Luminous Anima, Heterochromia, Odd-eyed, Chimeric Anima, Kaleidoscopic Anima, Prismatic Anima, Starlit Anima, Emberglow Anima
    • NO: Anything else not listed under YES.

Lore:

  • Fractal crowns are one of the most common types of crowns found among elnins. By nature, this type of crown is deeply attuned to elemental magic.

Legacy

  • Previously known as Complex Fractal.
Infused Sigil

Infused Sigil

Species: Elnin
Category: Crown

Crown MP: 3

Sigil crowns are symbols that usually represent an idea or emotion (exact interpretation can most often only made by the elnin itself (the elnin's owner is welcome to interpret the meaning of a sigil crown however they would like). The crown itself is made of two types of runes:

  • Core Runes:
    • Each core rune is a single "stroke" or symbol, usually intersecting another rune, but they can also stand alone. Core runes can curve, but any distinct angles or direction shifts are limited to twice per rune. Any more than that will constitute the start of a new rune.
  • Inflection Runes:
    • Inflection runes are (optional) small dots or short dashes that can accompany a sigil. In elnin lore, these periphery runes act as accent or emphasis marks and are supposed to help with reading a rune's full meaning (but for art purposes they're mainly just for design flourish).

Incorrect Classic Sigil Crown Examples: crown-guide-sigils-incorrect.png

Details:

  • Infused Sigils share many of the features of their Classic counterparts with a few notable upgrades.
  • The imagery should always be very vague and the lines of a sigil crown should never look exactly like a drawing of some specific thing.
  • Can have any number of core or inflection runes.
  • Can be much larger in size.
  • Be any color or combination of colors (solid or gradient is fine).
  • Can emit light.

Legacy

  • Previously Complex Glyphic.

Mini Guides
crown-guide-infused-diadem-examples.png

Details:

  • Infused Diadems share many of the features of their Classic counterparts with a few notable upgrades.
  • There shouldn't be any attachments to the crown that look like specific things (wings/flowers/etc).
  • Can have any color metal (should still be metallic textured).
  • Can be larger and more abstractly shaped.
  • Gems can be smooth with a cleaner cut or polish, or rough in appearance. The majority of diadem gems are smooth and more refined, but smaller rough gems are not unheard of.
  • Can have a few very small floating accent gems in addition to any attached gems.
  • Gems can be any color.
  • Accent gems may glow.
  • Gems should not be "shaped" (hearts/stars/etc.) or be very large/prominent (otherwise it becomes a hybrid with a fractal crown).
  • If an infused diadem crown is reading too close to a hybrid fractal diadem crown, edits may be requested. We may ask floating gem sizes be adjusted, or that gems appear more polished and/or integrated with the metal diadem parts of the crown, or request other changes if needed. This is to be sure standard crowns keep their distance from hybrid crowns, we do not aim to arbitrarily request edits if they are not needed. Crowns are assessed on a case-by-case basis. We understand there's not intent to make a crown look hybrid for infused diadems, but due to the similarities between gems and fractals this is an area on infused diadems we have to review a bit more closely!
