[SQ-SM-1] Darkened Scenery
[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin revisiting a local place they used to visit that's been destabilized by an overwild border. How has the scenery been destroyed or disrupted? Has a favorite mana well become dark and corrupt? Maybe a favorite shrine they left offerings at is is now sheared in half? Elnin will likely have varying reactions to their peaceful places being wrecked.
NOTES
Mana wells are areas with a higher than normal concentration of mana marked by anima crystals, overgrown plants, and unusually large animals or creatures appearing in colors that aren't normal for their species, etc
Generally, the color of the anima crystals will correspond to the region the mana well is found in. You can reference the Map of Eyre (or the Map of Eyre /w Borders for some corresponding regional mana colors) for ideas! For example, Zevija's anima is usually on the warm spectrum while Strynhalde tends toward pale blue/white, etc. These naturally occurring anima crystals should be depicted in organic shapes, opposed to artificial shapes. (Example 1, Example 2) In corrupted areas these crystals will likely appear dull, dark and cracked. Animals may not be present as they typically are and plant life may appear sickly. Vertical lines that denote mana bleed may also occur around mana wells specifically.

[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin encountering a border to the overwilds. Most of the time, the borders aren't visible except in a few scattered places where the miasma is especially dangerous. Lately though, elnin have reported stumbling upon these bordering areas.
The borders don't always look the same, but they fall over the landscape at a point. The most common appearance for these boundaries is an oil sheen iridescence that hangs in the air or a veil that's kind of like the northern lights but in dark purples and blues. This veil could also look similar to the surface of water dyed purple, only sitting vertically in the air opposed to horizontally like the surface of a lake would. These are not the only ways they can appear, but are common depictions.
NOTES
Borders can appear like the northern lights (only with darker purples and blue and closer to the surface of the land below rather than just in the sky), or ripples of iridescence or gradients in front of the landscape an elnin’s currently in.

[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin passing into a pocket space that's a ways beyond a visible overwild border. Occasionally, some elnin can mistake the warning signs of encountering an overwild border for just being new to an area. Ignoring the abnormalities that appear in those boundary areas can lead to them ending up in a sort of pocket space where the features of two regions appear to overlap.
For example, you might find half of the space to be covered in Strynhalde's snow while the other is clearly a beach from Palu'au. While pocket dimensions do not occur with every boundary being passed, the experience can be very energetically destabilizing for an elnin. They are also left unprepared to continue further, as they may not be equipped to handle the unexpected terrain, and no elnin has reported ever fully crossing through a pocket space and successfully reaching their destination. In these scenarios, the best known advice is to turn around and retrace their steps until the elnin has passed back through the overwild border they came through originally. There at least they will find themselves safely back in the region they started out in, and can seek out a different path to take.

[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
After visiting a corrupted location, some elnin are left feeling paranoid, leading to visions of daeva appearing in their dreams. Of course, elnin experiencing these nightmares have never seen a daeva directly, but there have been some vague descriptions floating around by word of mouth over the years. Daeva are rumored to be monsters that come in a variety of shapes, with bodies made of dark violet energy (a combination of solid anima and non-solid/pure energy form of mana) covered in places by blackened plates or scaling. Parts of their body are ringed by glowing halos (black or white), some say that they can appear in different colors but the black/violet variety are the most common.
Depict the nightmare your elnin encountering a daeva when they've never actually seen one. What do they imagine daevas looks like based on the rumors? How has the background setting of their nightmare been influenced by signs of corruption seen? (Sheared shrines, patches of miasma hanging in the air, etc.)

[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin finding evidence of a daeva crossing through an area. In some cases, this can be a painfully-splintered body of an elnin that has been severely corrupted by the encounter, where the elnin itself appears to be completely still and made of anima with splintering jutting out from the body. It has been mandated these corrupted elnin be reported to a niche group of scholars in Strynhalde that believe this to maybe be reversible with treatment. (These may or may not be the same group of scholars known for tinkering with living anima *cough*) If the corrupted elnin begin to crack and their condition begins to degrade, at that point a higher-ranking elnin may need to monitor these corrupted elnin.
At times, corrupted elnin are not found, but there are other remnants implying a daeva may have been in an area recently, like trails of dark violet anima splinters erratically jutting out of the ground. These splintered trails are often joined by scattered floating bits of dark violet anima ringed by glowing halos (black or white) that hang ominously around and over the trail. While the daeva has passed in these scenarios, such evidence can imply they might not be far.
NOTES
Elnin will not pursue or see an actual daeva in this act, so do not depict any actual encounters in your act or we will request edits. This is because an elnin would almost certainly meet the same fate as fully splintered elnins found if a daeva were actually encountered. With that in mind the focus of this act is not on encountering daeva, but instead finding evidence they are possibly close while actively avoiding an encounter.
The elnin that's trapped in this heavily corrupted state should not be any specific identifiable elnin on the masterlist.
An example of daeva tracks can be viewed here.

[Special Quest: Seeping Miasma] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin somewhere in the process of purifying a piece of shard evidence from a daeva's tracks. Shards are a dark purple hue with small white (or black) halos floating around them seen. After an elnin has found some evidence of a daeva there is a communal responsibility to ensure this evidence is disposed of safely. Disposal usually occurs at shrines located near the outskirts of major cities.
Elnin directly handling these shards can have some adverse side effects. Often causing an elnin to witness visions of space appearing to tear before them. Within these tears, a gray and dreary landscape corrupted by dark purple shards is revealed, much like scenery associated with Vahl D'sari or Dusk. To safely transport these shards elnin can use their pomu!
When handed a corrupted energy of shard, an elnin's pomu takes on a solid gray stone shape where the pomu is rendered temporarily immobile. In this form, an elnin can safely use their pomu to hold the shard to ward off further exposure to physically handling the shard itself. Once in this state, stone pomus are secured to their elnin in some way, either tucked safely in a bag, or secured onto the elnin with a rope or harness for transit.
While the elnin carries the shard with their stone pomu, they are not subject to these terrible visions. Once an elnin arrives at a shrine with their pomu, they must leave their stone pomu there for a day to finish the purification process of the shard. Purified shards are transparent or white and can be left on shrine altars. After the job is done, elnin are often witnessed treating their pomu to snacks and other favored items they picked up in town while their pomu helps with the purification process.
