Follow-up from the previous story 'A Light Shower' and remeniscing over the events of the festivities in a little village in Strynhald.

The frost in the air added sparkles to the lights and colours of the festival below. Jay and Maggie sat upon the hill for their second day in the village of Skoggsguard and enjoyed the crisp breeze after spending the morning prepping for the evening festivities. "It's nice up here," Maggie started, leaning back into the bench as she chuffed out a cloud of breath. "much quieter than the bakery right now; it's nice to have a moment of rest."

Jay nodded in agreement. He had been in charge of the ovens, keeping the rotation of pastries and sweet bread rolls going. By comparison, the snowy hill they now relaxed on was a blessing of contrast which quite amused him considering how 'chilled to the bone' they had felt when watching the falling lights the night before. He playfully shook the nearby tree, causing a light shower of snow to fall upon Maggie "You mean to say you can't wait for the next blizzard to come through here? You are ready for some more freezing cold nights?" He grinned down from his perch on the fence, hand still on the lowest hanging branch of the conifer next to him.

"Hey!! No fair." Maggie shook her head as wet snow was suddenly dumped onto it. "I'm enjoying the cold, yes, but not ready for the wet!" She reached up and brushed off the small pile of snow that fell onto her shoulder and glared at the pale kittom. But the anger was short-lived and she chuckled. "Afterall, it wasn't me who almost lost a tail tip to the frosty air last night." The chuckle turned into a full laugh as Jay reached around to smooth out the fluff of his small, round tail and make sure it was not sitting in a wet spot.

He gasped playfully, "Not my fault that I fell backwards into the snow drift and ended up with soaking wet trousers!"

Maggie held up a paw "Got scared by the fireworks, tripped over a root, landed on their butt, right into a puddle, AND rolled down the hill!" She ticked off a toebean as she checked off each event. "You were loud enough to be heard over the music and dancing; EVERYBODY came over to find out what happened and make sure you didn't break something." She smiled merrily to show she was just teasing.

Rising up to the bait, Jay retorted. "Yeah well, I wasn't expecting the fireworks to be on the ledge below and for them to be quite that loud." He crossed his arms, trying to appear angry but failed as the memory of what happened next came back to him. "Not like you didn't roll down after me in your hurry to check up on things too."

"Pshaw!" Maggie attempted to wave it away "I remember nothing of the sort." she make a play at examining the clear skies and the stars that were starting to come out as the sun reached the horizen. Suddenly she had a thought and changed the subject. "Do you think the falling lights will be early again tonight? If they are, I wouldn't mind catching the dancing before it ends; that looked like it could be a lot of fun."

"Maybe if you enjoy dancing," Jay teased, not letting things go quite yet. "You sure you can dance on that ankle of yours?"

Maggie stuck out a tongue at Jay from where she was sitting and then tested out her ankle, wiggling her foot back and forth while stretching the leg muscles. "It feels much better now. Being able to sit on a stool while decorating the pastries this morning helped quite a bit." As if to turn the conversation into a decision she hopped up. "Lets go find out how much it has healed right now and then we'll check up on the falling lights and fireworks later on."
