A precious item that Alaistair owns is a collection of crystals in a small leather bag. The bag is decorated with gold filigree that denote certain constellations which he got from his teacher in Kyendi. Each crystal was gathered from all the regions he has traveled through that have a connection to the land. A deep purple crystal came from Silveil from the apple orchard where he learned how to bake a pie. It sometimes has a glow about it when looked at in the dark if he leaves it out to charge in the sun for a while. Another was found washed up on a beach in Palua'au when he was traveling through to Silveil. It has been smoothed round by the ocean waves, and Alais has suspicions that it is actually just a piece of glass, but it is a pretty frosted blue and reminds him of the clear blue sky there. He also has a matching set of crystal shards from the mines in Azha. Both are amber colours but one is much darker and richer than the other; the amber hue reminding him of the beautiful sunsets he watched at nightfall. The more pale amber crystal is almost clear at the tip, much like the odd-tasting drinks made from the inner flesh of the cactus which grows there. One such preparation results in an alcoholic drink enjoyed by many of the adults there while the other is a refreshing light beverage that looked crystal clear but had a slight amber tint to it. The final crystal was a bright pink colour which, even in it's raw state, has facets of shimmery iridescence to it that makes it look violet or purple from certain angles. Of course, this crystal shard comes from Faerindell where he caught up on events with his sister Rynn when she was on the road to recovery after getting sick. He plans on adding to his collection when he eventually visits the other regions but for now he keeps these crystals safe within the leather pouch tied to his belt.
