[Regional Flora of Palu'au] What looks like simple coconut palm, the Colandanut is unique in that it only flowers during miasma season. This means the resulting nuts grow with a sharp, sour taste to their flesh. A discerning gatherer can tell the minor difference of the nut itself from the more normal coconut, but many an elnin have had a nasty surprise when they didn't pay attention and bit into the sour flesh of the Colandanut.
