ELN141: Airyn
- Aspires to be a knight and to keep others safe.
- Fur sparkles like starlight. He's not quite sure when that started...
- Received a scar on his ear from a run-in with a shylldra as a kittom.
Airyn was very curios and upstanding kittom in his younger years. Many a day was spent helping others and pretend to play fighting when he wasn't busy helping out with the family business, a well-known hot spring in Northern Faerindell called the "Starlit Hotsprings". Needless to say between him and his two siblings, Milka and Elara, they were never at a loss for things to do.
Though as years went on and the trio began to grow up, Milka found himself taken by the need to adventure and joined a caravan that had been traveling through. Which almost seemed to leave behind slight envy in the growing Airyn as he too felt the desire to explore the Eyre. Though the focus of his desires quickly adjusted as he listened to his father tell tails of defending the city and other travelers, keeping citizens safe from the dangers of the miasma and Shylldra. Wanting to be like him instilled a deep-seated thought that one day he too would be like both his father and Milka. Traveling and protecting others when they need it most.
This courage was challenged one day when he and his little sister had traveled a bit too far from home at the same fateful moment that a wounded shylldra had found the kittoms and pursued them until they were cornered. Standing his own, he attempted to protect his little sister and took a minor injury to his ear before his father appeared to do away with the fiend.
Upon their return home, despite the lecture and grounding that came after, Airyn had never felt more determined to come stronger so that one day he wouldn't be the helpless young kittom that almost lost his life alongside his little sisters.
It was that season that came around when kittoms took to playing tricks and pranks on one another all for the treats. Airyn had come to the point that he wasn't quite sure how he felt about the seasons anymore and was starting to feel a bit more... mature, so to say. It was at this time that he came across a stunning silver elnin that seemed to be rather lost, and in true Airyn nature, he was there to help. The two spent quite a bit of time wandering town, having a custom crimson cloak made for her, and spending quite a bit of time letting her rest in the family's hot spring. Before Airyn realized it, he'd found himself growing quite fond of the silver elnin. A pining that he didn't quite realize was nipping at his heels to be noticed. The weeks came and went and just as quickly as Hollow's Eve was upon them, the silver elnin had vanished and in that path, a heartbroken Airyn who had promised to become strong so that he might protect her from whatever it was that had frightened her. An Airyn who'd finally understood the feeling that he saw when he watched his mother and father look into one another's eyes.
Herald's are something that's only heard of in the village that Airyn's from. Maybe in the surrounding areas or larger cities, one has passed by. But to Airyn's knowledge, they were just a legend. That was until one day while traveling the markets of Ealie for a gift for a client, he noticed a small crowd surrounding just what he'd assumed to be a legend. But not just one - there were two. The Herald of Serenity and the Herald of Honor. In the same place. It was a vision to behold for all of a moment before he quickly realized he'd fallen behind schedule and made his way out into the market.
Apparently his indifference didn't go unnoticed. Sometime later while trying to figure out just what gift to get for his client, Serenity had made her way over to inquire exactly what it was. Her bold yet smooth demeanor caught him off guard and he couldn't help but ask her advice on what to get. Finding amusement in Airyn's behavior in her presence, Serenity entertained him and after shopping around for a bit, the two decided on a handcrafter comb inlaid with stones. The two parted ways and what more of a coincidence when Airyn found out the individual he was to deliver the gift to was the same who'd helped him pick it out. Thus began the budding of a close friendship and many more encounters that would happen over the next few months.
One of which encounters occurring over a glass of manaberry spirits, a warm fire, a rather intimate chatter, and soon after a bustling group of kittoms that would soon find their home with their grandmother, Suki, at the Starlit Hotsprings. Much to Elara's dismay. Both Serenity and Airyn try hard to be there for their kittoms and will even take them on their travels at times. Serenity being gone more often then Airyn. But on the off chance, they run into one another while traveling the Eyre? There are some days that Airyn really does pity Reina for just how social of a butterfly Serenity is.
An encounter with a feisty tavern owner on one of his travels would prove to be the start of an irreplaceable friendship that Airyn wouldn't see coming. Tyche just had one of those personalities that Airyn wasn't able to forget. She was a small little fae capable of bossing around some of the more arrogant and bigger elnin that he'd seen. He'd never paid much mind to this though, having been focused on his own duties or deliveries that he'd been running for the new business as he came through town. But as his travels continued, he found himself selectively visiting that specific tavern. Whether it be for a sentimental reason or just because he was frequently hired by Tyche or to deliver packages, he was able to see this fae more and more. With each visit, the two developed more and more of a bond that resulted in a lot of exchanging of stories, laughs, and even breaking up the occasional fight.
But when he failed to remember his prior experiences with alcohol, history was doomed to repeat itself. Through their experiences together, Airyn had found himself a close friend that he looks forward to seeing in between his trips and supporting as he is able.
Meet Indred & Gareth.
Travel, deliveries, odd jobs, and flings had just become a thing for Airyn at some point. A way to avoid himself and the fact that he was afraid that allowing himself to become attached again would cause the pain he'd run so desperately from to return. Little was he aware that he would at one point come face to face with these fears while overseeing security at an elegant gala in Kyendi. It's there that he meets a faenin that turned out to be the lady to be performing that evening appearing the slightest bit nervous. Making the smart call, Airyn opted to avoid the spirits and decided to provide his support.
Which worked out much better than he could have anticipated. Needless to say, their first interaction though short and sweet resulted in something much bigger rather quickly. And for some reason or another found himself opening up to Katya in ways he hadn't found himself able to with Serenity or Tyche. He found her insecurities endearing and her love of music reminiscent to the way he felt about helping others and in time, came to understand her own struggles and confide his own. In particular his past feelings towards a silver elnin and budding feelings for one of gold. His concerns about letting himself feel again and his fear of losing the things that he'd grown fond of again.
Through Katya, Airyn gained a more clear understanding of loss and acceptance. That his own feelings mattered and that it was ok to let himself feel love again.
:'D Inde ilu.
:( Gareth pulls a Anakin.
A large pair of shoes that Airyn still desires to fill, the existence of his father is a reminder of the things that he wishes to be like in life. Though those desires are starting to waver as he matures. Now being capable of protecting those he loves, he realizes that he hadn't had as much time with his father as he would have liked as a kittom trying to grow up to be a knight. Despite all of the love and respect, Airyn has for his absent father, it's interesting how little his opinion of the elnin has changed. In fact, Airyn probably wouldn't know what to do if he had the chance to have a sit down with him. Jinryeok will forever be a hero and inspiration in Airyn's eyes. One he hopes to replicate for his own son.
One of the more influential figures in Airyn's life, he's the definition of a mama's boy. From errands to cleaning to helping out around the bathhouse, if there is something that his mother needs support in Airyn will always put her needs before any other. It's not uncommon for Airyn to return home for advice or when he simply needs a moment to find himself. With the support of his mother, he continues to grow into a more mature elnin in pursuit of his dreams. Suki's love and support drives Airyn to continue forward and aspire to be as kind a person as she, always willing to help others and be there when they need a paw
Milka is probably the sibling that Airyn is closest to. If there is ever a time where Airyn is distracted or feeling too down, Milka is always there to cheer him up and bring him back down to earth. Even heroes need to be reminded that they aren't alone, and Milka always goes a step above to ensure his brother knows just that. It's something that Airyn is forever grateful for despite being mostly unaware of why Milka does what he does. For the most part Airyn just thinks he's trying to do anything humanly possible to either distract him or cause some type of chaos.
A rather pleasant and charming 'nin. If anything Airyn seems to run across Serenity every now and then no matter where he travels, but he doesn't mind it in the least. Do to her friendly demeanor and how she treats other elnin he has developed a fondness for her as a friend. Though over a few encounters and traveling with some wine, the two did at one point have a litter of kittoms. One of which Airyn keeps close and protects in hopes of being an inspiration to their kittom.
A nin Airyn very much respects, if only because she is also his best friends sister and the two together at any point are a force to be reckoned with.
