Offsite Profile ELN1117: ★ Adavir 🌺
Adavir Embermourne
The Artful Dodger
An elnin seemingly blessed with endless good fortunes- at least until someone looks past his charming facade and notices the fifth ace he has stuffed up his sleeve. His honeyed words and golden smile are as smooth as snake oil, and are just about as genuine, too.

Adavir glitters like gold, in more ways than one. His luxurious fur is plush and shimmering, making him look more like one of Silveil City's shining socialites than the country bumpkin he actually is; he's worked hard to curate this image, and takes great pains to maintain it. His thousand-watt smile can charm anyone except the most guarded of people, and his ability to manipulate others is unparalleled. It's not that he's a really bad person, but you can't exactly call him a good one, either...

Hailing from the farmlands of Faerindell, Adavir always dreamed of striking it rich in the big city. He was the oldest kit in a large family, so he usually had his paws full helping his mother deal with his younger siblings. When he would go into town, he would listen wide-eyed as travelers from Silveil City told him about the glitz and glamour of city life. The beautifully-dressed socialites! The exciting nightlife! Adavir could think of nothing he wanted more desperately than to go there and be a part of it all.
So, once he was grown, Adavir bid his mother a tearful farewell and left to make his way towards Silveil City. All he brought with him were the clothes on his back, and a pack of homegrown vegetables from his family's farm- he planned to sell them in the city to kickstart his fortune.
He had hardly even crossed the twilit border into Silveil when he came across a band of traveling merchants selling jewelry and other glittering things. They kindly offered him a trade- they were young aspiring merchants once too, and they could hardly bear to see him go to Silveil City of all places with only vegetables to trade.
How embarrassing that would be! He couldn't expect to approach the glimmering elite of Silveil's upper crust with turnips. So to make sure he didn't humiliate himself, they would take a loss and switch packs with him so he had something more elegant to offer. Moved by their kindness and sound advice, Adavir readily agreed.
Of course, once he made it to Silveil City itself, Adavir found out that the little baubles he had traded his pack for were entirely worthless- cheap items you could find in any touristy store near the city gates. He had been quite handily scammed. It took every trick he could think of to sell what was, essentially, trash. Once the last worthless knickknack was finally gone, Adavir vowed that he would never again be taken for a fool.
He's stuck to that mantra ever since- to be the trickster, rather than the tricked- and has done decently well for himself. He and the Silveil Thieves Guild don't exactly... get along. So he's made his home just outside the city proper, in a worn down shack that he's named the "Curiosity Shoppe." He's come to find that if he smiles and winks just so, he can sell just about anything- and get anyone to sell their own items for far less than their true worth.
So he makes his trade buying low, selling high, and amassing a collection of what would probably be best categorized as "bizarre trash." Antique jewelry from far-off regions, strange-looking creatures imported from all over Eyre, "genuine" Daeva crystals- if it's weird and there's any chance at all that someone's willing to buy it, he probably has it in stock. Of course, he's always willing to haggle... or if one is feeling lucky, they could always try to win it from him.

When meeting strangers, Adavir is pleasant and charming. Once he's become attached to a mark, he can't help but offer genuine friendship. When insulted, he easily takes it in stride and hardly reacts, but plans petty revenge for later.
Overall, his first impression is that of a legitimate businessman with quality products.

Denisil - Lover
Their first meeting was full of sparks- the bad kind. Adavir had been rudely awoken by the sound of Denisil breaking down the door of the Curiosity Shoppe, after he mistook it for an abandoned shack. Of course, Adavir insisted that the hulking elnin fix everything... Maybe he exaggerated slightly about what Denisil damaged vs what was already falling apart, but who's to say? Yet somehow, over time, the two of them settled into a peaceful contentedness, then friendship, and then something even more.

Sulahn - Friend
Sulahn is one of those naive, wealthy types that Adavir is normally all-too-pleased to part from their money, but he was tragically marked as "off-limits" by Adavir's partner on account of the blue elnin being Denisil's primary care provider (and best friend.) It's not all bad, though; Sulahn likes to get nice things for his friends regardless, and Adavir takes some pride in protecting the doctor from other would-be scammers in and around the city.
