Curled up in the tiny nooks of Silveil city live a particular type of frog-like creature called a Stonewart. In its early stages of growth it's formed directly from the efforts of a parent in Silveil lake as a small luminous creature vaguely resembling a salamander. Its coloration is initially very light, with soft blue luminous markings as streaks down its back while its underbelly is a dark almost black coloration. When it swims to the surface it can easily be mistaken for a reflection of light on the lake's surface before diving again, and if in danger or frightened it will flip onto its back to use its dark stomach to make it harder to see.
Once a stonewart reaches a certain size it crawls onto shore and will slowly absorb its own tail as it traverses the water's edge and shoreline in general. There is a transitional period where its skin becomes coated in small gravel on the shoreline, roughening and forming its own pebbled appearance. Its coloration undergoes a transition over the course of a few weeks as its underbelly will slowly shift to take on its back markings and light appearance while its back becomes dark and gravely, almost like a reversal of the colors even though their back is usually not quite as dark as the original underbelly was. Silveil residents that spot this creature in transition will often refer to this period as its "moon phase" as the darker markings on its back eclipse the lighter ones.
Once fully transitioned it becomes more reliant on sight and sensitivity to ambient mana. While Stonewarts are not inherently magical in any way, upon adulthood they tend to gravitate towards areas where the mana seems to flow well and miasma is low during the miasma months. For this reason these small once lake dwelling creatures often can be found all across Silveil city. During times of lower activity they will crawl into town, and find small spots to settle between buildings and wedged beneath benches and other structures. Merchants vending under the glow of lanterns will occasionally catch a glimpse of their light underbelly or a leg peeking out from beneath a part of their stand, but they are viewed as a sign of good luck and left largely undisturbed. Some travelers and vendors will even offer them scraps as stonewarts scavenge small meals of food or other even tinier creatures loafing about the city.
