They were running from something terrible, as fast and far as they could.
Moon didn't remember why they were wandering the sands, or for how long.
Candies were brought to try and ease their symptoms of mana poisoning,
although they remained convinced the water bowl was hissing such incredibly unkind things.
Balthazar stayed by their side, with the gentle thrumming of resonant mana to quiet all the whispering.
They stayed together in the shade of the trees, in that sanctuary, until Moon recovered.
Balthazar adopted the child as one of his own, and gifted them
one of the many charms in the branches to keep safe.
