On bright, hot sunny days the Speckled Sleeper will come crawling out from the Palu'au sands!
These tiny, noodle-shaped creatures cling to their shells to keep from drying out in the sun, often picked up accidentally by collectors. They're harmless to handle, if a bit slimy to the touch. Some scholars think they migrate closer to the trees to seek cool respite in the hottest, dryest of seasons. Despite their gills and aquatic appearance, they don't seem very apt swimmers. Rarely, in mana-rich seasons and events, their shells will turn especially brilliant colours, but hold no magical properties themselves.
