Taiki stood on the edge of a cliff, looking down below in awe. They had finally arrived in their last destination on their grand Kyendi trip and he couldn’t believe all the things the region had to offer. Small islands hovered gently in the air below them, small stones breaking off here and there and giving him peeks at the vibrant orange crystals that kept the islands afloat. Atlas had explained that the Sunshard isles we’re one of the most magnificent things the region had to offer and had one last task for the small kit before they could start preparing to go home.
Some of the adventures we’re preparing to gather and tell stories in the square and it was up to a few of the kittoms as well as himself to put up fliers and help set up for the event. It wasn’t as large as a celebration or anything like that but Tai already couldn’t wait to hear what stories of their travels they had to tell.
Drawing his eyes from the cliffside, the pink and black young kit turned around and started his quick trek back towards the more populated part of town, his bag stuffed full of fliers rustling as he went. Waterfalls gushed all around the isles it seemed, Taiki smiling up at a small one rushing from a cliffside above on a higher island that poured down the side and past the one they we’re currently on with one of the tows. How in the wild magic this place was real he’d never know but he marked it as one of his favorites in his mind with a quick nod to himself.
His paws made quick work to lead him up stone paths until he was closer to town once more, his eyes sweeping the crowd. It was still fairly early so he was able to see shops starting to open, the morning sun highlighting the tall buildings here and the stone walls glinting in the light. The isles seemed to have a permanent gleam about them, almost making him forget just how much higher they were above the rest of the region shrouded in mist down below. Tai wanted to sight see even more but knew Atlas would be disappointed in him if he didn’t finish his task he had been given. If nothing else, seeing other kittoms politely asking stall vendors to take their fliers made Taiki want to put his own papers up as quickly as possible.
Dashin forward with a quick “Morning!” to a fee Elinin already out on the cobblestone paths, he ran to one of the buildings with a bright smile. Climbing onto a few barrels on the side, he plastered the flier with pride against the otherwise pristine wall--if not a bit at an angle. Tilting his head, he figured since he could still read it then it still counted and would do just fine. Satisfied, he lept down, trotting quickly to a poll nearby and standing on his back legs to balance himself. He soon made quick work of the next flier, not noticing just how low to the ground it would be for adults. “A flier for kittoms.” he assured himself, moving on and slipping in between the quickly filling streets. It seemed most Elinin we’re starting their day and vendors we’re nearly fully set up if not already conducting business.
After just an hour or so more, the once full satchel was starting to feel awfully light, causing Tai to stop to peek inside and see he only had a handful of them left. He glanced about, trying to stand on his back legs to see over the tall heights of the vivid colored Elinin moving to and from in the city square. He could spot fliers all over even from here. Some in great vantage parts like on the side of vendor stalls or on tall buildings. Others on less ideal spots like the fountain where he could already see it getting a bit damp from the water splashing down on it. “Eh it’ll be okay.” he was very convinced that as long as he was helping it was all that mattered. Thankfully they had given multiple kittom the task and some of the more sensible kittoms he passed we’re carefully passing out fliers to those passing by.
He waved to two or three of them, the kits waving back with much fuller arms then his bag. Being more careful must have made them more slow it seemed? Either way Taiki had only a few more so he figured he could borrow the method and then go to help the others get rid of their fliers as well.
Leaping up onto a crate near a flower stand, he tried to wave his small black and white arms to get a few passing Elinins attention. “There’s an adventurer storytelling circle tonight! You should come!” his small voice carried up over the bustling crowd, not getting much attention and causing the kit to roll his eyes with impatience. “HEY!” he called, cupping his paws to carry his voice higher. A few Elinin glanced his way and before he could get any real frowns for being so loud, he waved his fliers excited in their direction. Though one or two grumbled while taking the papers, he was finally free of his task and he hoped down.
“That’ll do.” he told himself, waving goodbye to some of the adults and running towards where the event was to take place. Now that left them with just set up it seemed.
Already Elinin were placing pillows and stringing up lights on ladders that made them taller then they already we’re. Tai blended in with the workers, dragging fluffy pillows and blankets to their spots and helping place lanterns down on the ground for once the sun set. Already evening was approaching them and he was excited to see the waterfalls and drifting isles to glow with crystals and starlight during the stories.
Finally, the sun had set and people had started to file in and snuggle into the comfortable placements that had been laid out. People chattered about their days and some still held the papers that kittoms had worked hard to put up during the day time. Taiki couldn’t help but smile at a small kit talking to a parent holding a soggy flier and chuckling to himself as he wondered if it was the one from the fountain. “Did you enjoy helping out? I was told you were very enthusiastic this morning.” Atlas’s voice carried over the chatter and Tai looked upwards to see the blue and white male towering over him.
“It was so much fun! Are the storytellers here yet?” he had been looking forward to it all day and now he was even more abuzz with the excitement of it all. The older Elinin chuckled and waved a paw towards the small stage we’re a few Nin we’re setting up, bags looking nearly to overflow with trinkets and maps. They had arrived and we’re almost ready to start it seemed. “Come on.” Atlas urged him, moving him towards a fluffy pillow he had already placed his things on to reserve for him and Tai.
Atlas gave a squint and the small kit leapt onto the pillow, causing his escorts bag to fall over and the tiny tassels of the pillow to fluff out in protest but he seemed oblivious. The blue nin sighed, looking towards the stage and couldn’t help but side glance the hyper kittom beside him. “Do you know any of them?” Taiki asked, leaning against the other with sparkling peach eyes glued to the stage as the lights dimmed. “Just listen, you’ll see.” Atlas smirked to himself, hoping Tai enjoyed the tales as the event began.
Of course, after a day of running about halfway through the little kittom was curled up asleep, his head on the other and his tail wrapped around him. His escort almost didn’t mind though, it meant he’d have stories to tell him on the caravan back which made the entire trip worth it.
