Saga paced eagerly at the door. A week or two had gone by and she got a response to the letter she had sent Tetra. Her friend would be visiting again soon. Saga could hardly contain her excitement. The only problem would be figuring out when the next storm would be. For all the academics that were in Il'durahn, none seemed able to predict when the storms would hit. Saga would just have to wait and hope when Tetra arrived that so would a storm she could share. Tetra came not long after her letter arrived so Saga could only guess that the letter had been sent only shortly before Tetra herself traveled with her guardian this way. With Tetra’s arrival Saga quickly whisked her off to the room she had been staying in for the past few months while in Bellmoril. The two stayed up late chatting and admiring how the sunset hit the warm hued foliage, making the reds and oranges seem almost brighter than they typically were.
It was the soft glow of something falling through the open window that caused Saga to stir in the near dawn hours of the morning. It was still dark outside but a storm had struck. Saga was a particularly light sleeper compared to Tetra, and while at times it left her sleepless she liked to tease Tetra that it was a valuable skill that would later on aid her in life. Tetra always seemed to chuckle but there wasn nothing but warmth and fondness in her eyes while she did. Now though it had come in handy. Her friend was sound asleep and Saga scampered over to gently shake her awake. “Remember the odd weather I mentioned?” Saga asked as Tetra groggily peered up at her. Saga on the other hand was already quickly awake and ushering Tetra towards the door. A squeak of protest came from Tetra as her friend ushered her out the front door and it took Tetra a moment to realize what was happening. At first there was a split second of fear, but with Saga close by Tetra was sure that she didn’t need to be afraid. Her eyes widened with bewilderment.
The sun was slowly starting to dawn and Saga knew even if the light shower remained, it wouldn’t be quite as pretty as soon as the daylight fully hit. “Let’s go see the lake.” She said excitedly, to which Tetra nodded but her eyes were still so wide with awe. Through the orange and red colored leaves the two kittoms ran, leaving the renaissance-like stone buildings behind them. They ran for a while, squealing with delight as the vibrant streaks of light hit them, until they reached the lake. The streaks of light seemed to go straight through the water, but past a point the light snuffed out in the depths of it. Fish seemed to jump in surprise, stirring the water and distorting the reflections of the orange trees and cat tails at the edge of the water. What a lovely sight the two kittoms shared.
They watched the rest of the storm come and go, followed by the sun rising warmly into the sky. Saga could still feel her heart pounding from when they had run, or perhaps it was something else she couldn’t quite place. As they sat just outside of the small town in Bellmoril Saga couldn’t help but want to stay like this a bit longer. Someday they would grow up and explore together but these fond memories Saga hoped wouldn’t fade. At times she was so engaged in her studies and experiences but they always felt just a bit emptier without Tetra beside her.
