Hearty Frilled Globe

• Details:
  The Hearty Frilled Globe is a large edible thistle like plant ocated in the higher elevations of Faerindell, one of which being the mountains to the north of Elenion, the other location being the lone island to the west. This plant favors high altitude coastal mountain ranges. The Hearty Frilled Globe can grow up to four feet tall by four feet wide and produce up to six fruits in a season. The plant can be identified by its wide leaves and the bright color of the fruit when it is ripe. Otherwise it has a tendency to blend into its surroundings rather well, especially amidst the faerie shrouds whose territory it shares. These plants are incredibly sensitive to Miasma and die off quickly once the season hits.
• Edibility:
  The various parts of the fruit are edible and can be used in a variety of ways. The leaves are incredibly fibrous so most avoid the tips but will scrape off the base with their teeth after boiling. The stamen are rather sweet and popular to toss into a salad with other fresh Faerindell veggies to make a salad or on their own, candied. The very center of the Hearty Frilled Globe is surrounded by a similar fibrous cover that must be pulled away but is well worth the struggle as it is considered a delicacy and very filling. The inner core has a potato baked potato like texture when cooked and the taste is similar to a salted caramel corn.
• Other Uses:
  Lots of times the fibers from the Hearty Frilled Globe are saved as the sweet scent from the stamens remain and the fibers can be used to create a soft pastel pink paper that is considered a rarity during the spring time. Due to the rarity of the plant and the difficulty in production of the paper, some say that a love letter written on this paper that is gifted to another shows the purest confession from the heart and is considered a premium gift for tourists traveling to faerindell.
