Nighttime was by far, Loki's favorite time of day. He'd always felt more drawn to the darkness; not in a particularly ominous way, but rather, it was the stillness, the peace, the quiet that called to him. During the day, there was so much noise all around him, making it near impossible to allow his mind to drift correctly. He could never quire manage to concentrate all his attention on whatever book he was reading either, as there was always something, or someone vying for his attention during daylight hours. When it wasn't his mentor, it was one of his fellow kittom students, or a friend.

And yes, he did love his friends. He loved his adoptive family and the people around him, but there was a distinct reason Loki went to bed early; he liked waking up in the wee hours, when the sun was not yet out, and all souls in the house were asleep still. There was a distinct stillness that could not be replicated at any other time of day, and a peace of mind that pervaded the whole atmosphere.

There was, of course, one soul he'd managed to find the same peace of mind with, and he was happy that they could both sit or lay side by side and not have to fill the peace and quiet with unnecessary words. He was happy Fu never felt the need to speak more than she wanted to, that she didn't feel awkward enough to fill the silence, and simply, instead, let it be when she was around him. That was the reason he was so fond of traveling with her in the first place, and also the reason that when he woke up, rather than simply going outside alone, he would make a detour to find her.

They could enjoy the peace and quiet together.
