Wind wrapped up what little voice he had and threw it into the horizon. It clung to his frame with the way he swayed as it violently blew past-- could it pick up his frail self along with the stray blades of lost grass without a second thought? The stormlands rumbled the earth below him, dark gray clouds rolled endlessly into the distant sky, and flickers of light could be seen jumping between the cracks.

The long grasses parted below the russet-furred kittom, but his steps lingered. Was this the right direction? He spun around to see, but he could not see much more than just a field. Could he find something if he headed only in a straight line? His paws treaded back. How did he have to get separated from him? Where did he wander away to? It was just a quick nap he took. That was all.

The prismatic clouds among the dark skies rolled as far as Harper could see from his good eye. Colorful split seconds of light dappled its rims when a snake of lightning slithered through. If he stayed out here any longer, would he get washed away? The grasses tickled his cheek with the wind's guiding breeze.

Plenty of other caravans should be traveling this way- that's what he knew if he stayed in place long enough. It was a rare opportunity to see skies seeming so tame for Ahza's stormlands, and many merchants were set on seizing the opportunity for a smooth journey. Only the sensation of his coughing reminded Harper to breathe under the wails of the winds. Thunder told him rain would soon follow again. The safest window of passage through the storm was shrinking fast, and most of all, he didn't want to leave without his friend.
