Submission (#8220) Approved

The sky was dark and dreary. The white puffy clouds of Ealei looked darker than usual as they covered the entirity of the sky and blocked out the sun. The waves were rough and the rocks that circled the island danced in and out of the waves as they crashed into the shore of the island, bashing into the rocks and roots of the trees that grew haphazardly everywhere on Ealei. Usually, Ice spent her days down on the shore at the docks, fishing out manaberries and drawing the scenery but she wasn't allowed to go down there today, else she might end up washed out to sea from the waves.

The worst part of everything was that while she spent the day inside, bored out of her mind, she had been informed that the firework display that was going to happen tonight in celebration of Starfaire was no longer happening due to the weather. The white and black kittom with fiery markings flopped over her bed, leaning over the window and looking at the rain as it poured down. She missed the sun, and the big puffy clouds. Could she even remember what they looked like anymore? She flopped over dramatically and then her black eyes met with the sketchbook on the other end of her bed. She was forming an idea as she scrambled across the bed and scrooped up the sketchbook as if it might jump out of her arms and flee into the storm to be forever lost.

She held it tightly as she scooted off the bed and scrambled around the bedroom gathering up all of her art supplies that were scattered across various surfaces. She had some paint, oil pastels and charcoal by the time she was done. Her arms full and nearly unable to be contained as she wobbled back over to the bed and dropped everything on it. Then she remembered she needed water for the paint as well as a paintbrush. There was plenty of water falling from the sky but what could she contain it in? There was a coconut bowl somewhere around here...? Somewhere...

She looked around, her eyes unable to spot it until she got down on both paws and spread across until she pancaked onto her belly. Then she looked under the bed, where she found multiple little coconut bowls that had been kicked aside and forgotten down there. She stretched out and wiggled her way under until she pulled one out. She briefly looked at the other and decided it wasn't worth the effort to retrieve.

Setting the bowl on the windowsill, she allowed it to gather water as she set up her sketchbook.

Maybe she could just draw the island as she remembered it? Big poofy white clouds, beautiful blue seas with rocks bordering the island with a large tree and endless roots sprawling throughout the island until they meet the mangroves that grew out of the seabed. She was about to begin drawing that when she had a better idea! She would just draw the fireworks that she was missing! She'd seen fireworks before, right? She was pretty sure that she had; she could vaguely remember them. She remembered them from books before, too.

She put down a layer of black paint, covering the paper thoroughly until there was nothing but black left. While it was wet, she spread some white across the page to make clouds. Putting her paintbrush back in the bowl, she looked down at her paper as it dried. She picked up various oil pastels and selected bright colours and white.

She pulled the oils over the paper, making a couple small, traditional fireworks in the background in white. Then in red there was a little lantern firework and in yellow were multiple star shapes cascading. Then in the front in blue was a large manaberry with a smaller star firework in the center of that.

It looked like a nice Ealei firework show, and she was a little disappointed she wasn't going to be able to see it.
