Ladeca was nestled inside a cabin in the cold climate of Strynhalde. Neve had offered to look after her while she was in the snowy region but the detective also had a lot of her own work to be done so the small kittom had mostly been left to her own devices. "Neve, I'm going out for a bit." She said, a touch reluctant to leave the warm cabin atmosphere but also bored stiff just loitering around in front of the fire. Ladeca wasn't one for books and puzzles much. She liked to experience things for herself and luckily was a pretty cool headed kittom herself. She didn't rattle easily. Getting on a small light blue cloak she threw it over her cobalt blue fur that glittered with small stars. Her fur markings definitely made her a little easier to see in the snow but it could get pretty cold in the late afternoon hours. She slipped her paws into some little boots to protect her light blue toe beans and then headed for the door.
She had to put her back into pushing the cabin door open since a little snow had built up outside of it. Once it was open though it closed relatively easily behind her and out into the snow she went. At first she wasn't really sure what she was looking for so she went over by a small lake at the edge of town. It was frozen over pretty solidly here, but then something caught her eye beneath the ice. Was that a fish? She couldn't help but squint a bit as she had to brush snow away from the ice to get a better look. She had never heard of a fish glowing before so she watched the little mote of light in the pond come closer to the ice on the surface. It had swam down into a deeper part of the lake but then it came back up to the surface where it must have seen some light pouring through. It seemed to be swimming in circles, maybe trying to find something?
She wracked her brain a little bit trying to remember until she recalled a recent story she had heard from the locals. They had said something about glowing fish needing to be brought to larger bodies of water. With a pause she looked at the fish and then with a kick of excitement she scampered back to the cabin. Neve raised a bit of an eyebrow as the kittom sought out a bowl or some other sort of vessel until they found what was a particularly deep bowl. For a while Ladeca had been considering a pitcher or vase but the tall stature of such objects didn't quite fit what she felt would work. Dragging the bowl outside she found herself a small sled and situated the bowl in it before dragging the sled behind her and back to the frozen lake. Snow covered trees lined the edge of the lake where frozen forests lay further out. Ladeca was far less interested in delving into the icy landscape today though.
For her current task the hardest part was finding a spot where the ice was open so she could help get the fish out. Near one of the lake's edges where the water was particularly shallow it looked like some elnin must have cracked the ice open so she carefully returned back to where the fish was and brushed off the icy surface until a cleared trail created a path on top of the ice over towards the opening in the ice. She had no idea if the fish would be amiable to the little trail of light but it seemed to follow it well enough. At the water's edge she had slipped the bowl half into the water so when the fish swam into it a bit of leverage and the small glowing creature was all scooped up. It was a pale blue much like her eyes and it seemed to glow even more clearly as the sun seemed to be setting.
Ladeca had to hurry to get this small mission done before nightfall. The lake was inland but there was a fairly decent stream not far away. Carefully sliding the bowl into the sled, she dragged it slowly a fair distance to where the stream was. The boundless oceans of Eyre wouldn't be far if she could get the fish to the stream. It was fairly dark by the time she got there but the town's lamps lit her path decently. She didn't have to stray far and no kittom really would dare to in these conditions. Carefully at the stream's edge she tipped the bowl with the fish into it. "Get back home safely." She said, watching it do a little loop before following a slow current downstream. The current would pick up further down but this would work for now. It was a long but exciting evening for Ladeca but the day was short compared to how much longer she would need to stay here.
"Did you solve any mysteries?" Neve asked with a bit of a smile as Ladeca came home with the still somewhat wet bowl and snow covering her little cloak. The kittom stripped off her outerwear and flopped down in front of the fire to warm her frigid little toe beans. "No, it wasn't particularly a mystery. Not with the other elnin in town mentioning those strange fish. It just looked like one could use a bit of help." She said, as though she hadn't so eagerly rushed out of the house earlier with the supplies. Ladeca didn't act like it had been anything particularly special but Neve knew she was a kittom of action and sometimes those spoke louder than her words. It must have been a pretty good day for Ladeca based on what Neve saw.
