The Petalbun in an adorable and pretty little creature. It likes to live among the flowery groves of Faerindell, where the air is sweet with falling sakra blossoms and the ground is full of the soft pink fallen petals.

It’s a small, round bodied critter, no bigger than a forest melon, with velvety fur in every shade of pink one could imagine, from soft blush to bold fuchsia. Its ears are long and floppy, with a curl at the ends that almost looks like a twirling ribbon. Two wide eyes, glimmering like dew, peek out from its chubby face, and a little nose sniffs constantly at the air, always searching for the next petal to munch on.

Petalbuns eat almost exclusively the blossoms of Faerindell’s great sakura like trees. As they nibble, their fur gradually turns the shade of whatever tree they’ve been feeding from, one might find a pastel pink Petalbun beneath a light blossoming grove, or a bold rose colored one under the Eldertree herself. Sometimes, their fur even carries little petal patterns, like nature painted on them directly.

They’re gentle, quiet things, hopping about with soft thumps that barely disturb the fallen flowers. Their feet are wide and cushioned, leaving behind tiny prints shaped like fou -pointed stars. Petalbuns are often seen in groups, sleeping in little circles, covered by a blanket of drifting blossoms. If one listens closely, they make soft cooing sounds, almost like kettle just beginning to hum.

Siobhan once tried to pick one up, only to find it curled into a perfect little ball, pretending to be just another fallen flower. She giggled and whispered, “Nice try,” before gently scooping it into her arms. It blinked once, then let out a yawn so big its entire face disappeared for a moment. She decided to let it nap on her lap for a while.

Locals say if a Petalbun chooses to sleep near you, it means you’ve been blessed by the grove’s spirit. It’s said they only rest near those with kind hearts and soft hands.
