The miasma was finally starting to seep back into Eyre but that didn’t change much for the red and black, lava coated kittom with the stark white colouring. However, the mysterious eggs that had shown up changed so much!

How exciting was that? Eggs, or egg-like stones, had spawned across Eyre of late. It had even reached the pink regional trees of Faerindell… which is exactly where Ice had found one. Lying in the bright flowers and tail of the faerie shroud at the base of the cherry trees was the strange stone.

Ice had heard tale of other elnin finding them but this was the first time Ice had done so. She stood in front of it, looking down at it with mild interest. She wasn’t openly excited but she was definitely intrigued.

The sun was still high in the sky, shining down on the rolling hills and shining through the leaves of the cherry trees so that it delicately lit up the egg below her.

The adults spoke of caring for them, and that’s exactly what Ice intended to do. She carefully picked up the egg and waddled down the hill. She followed the little paved road that lead to the town, an aesthetic that matched each other that only became clearer as she got closer to town.

Built in a ring of cherry trees were stone buildings with tiled roof tops, and stone pathways that lead between all of the houses throughout the town. In the center of town was a featured cherry tree that had faerie shroud hanging on it like a spectacle.

She had to pass by to get to the cottage she stayed at. It looked much like the other buildings, and had small window planters lining the two windows at the front of the house.

As she reached the door, she struggled to open it. She had her hands full with the egg that opening the door was proving quite impossible. She huffed and puffed until eventually a sleepy pomu popped out of her shadow as if it had a brilliant idea that no one ever thought of before.

A sigh, followed by the simple, “Okay, do it.”

The pomu jumped up onto Ice’s shoulders and then… like magic, opened the door!

“I could have done it,” she said with a pout as if it had been a competition that she lost and was sour about.

The two, or… three of them walked into the cottage and Ice kicked the door closed behind her. She shot a look at her pomu as if she say the score was even now, a huge grin on her face.

She wasted no time heading over to her bed. She laid the egg down on it as gently as she could and looked upon it with great care, analyzing the details of it. She realized she didn’t know anything about them, let alone how to care for own. However, it couldn’t have been that different from regular eggs, right?

She knew that those needed to stay warm so she began taking a blanket and coiling it into a noodle shape that she could use to create a circular barrier around the egg so that it couldn’t suddenly roll away. They could do that, right?

Her pomu tried to help, and they shared a look. The pomu carried over a pillow and created a bed for itself right next to it, prepared to watch over the little critter.

Now Ice took the second blanket and draped it around the egg to create a heat barrier. It would be snug and warm!

Ice sat down next to the pomu and egg, looking out the window that was beside the bed. She had a good view of the cherry tree orchard that encircled the town from here as this cottage was on the edge of the town. She liked to look at the trees and the flowers that grew scattered around in the fields. It was all… incredibly picturesque. She’d love to sit here and just draw various pictures.

Who knew how long it would be until the egg hatched? If at all, maybe it wouldn’t? They were new, and she didn’t know what they would even hatch into. She did know that she was going to stay here, keep it company and keep it warm. She’d be here if it needed anything! Maybe they got thirsty? Time would tell.

She placed a paw on the egg and pulled out her sketchbook that was tucked between the bed and wall. Time to get started!
