In this Oasis, Marvel found this bizarre egg and got very attached to it. He won't leave its side. Due to their travels, he seems to think it's an adventure, and thus, treating the egg as if it were his little princess, he protects it from all sorts of things, even if unnecessary.
Although he forgot a very important thing before they left the Oasis, water, and Rantan is sufernin due to not being prepared to travel the harsh desert.
