The wind was howling through the tight alleyways of the city while the rain was pouring down from the sky like a river rushing through the forest. In the distance, Caelum squinted his eyes and he could see the luminescent lights of the jellyfish glitter from the lake but no matter how hard the kittom squinted his eyes he couldn't see the usual stars in the sky. Unfortunately, they were near impossible hard to see through the storm clouds that raged across the sky.
The outside was wild and unorderly. A torrential world, opposite of the quiet apartment that Caelum was in now. Sitting inside by the window watching the storm was Caelum, a black and white kittom with lavender and blue celestial markings. On his forehead was a star much like his parent. His plans had been completely rained out, and he sat there looking quite forlorn. He didn't have any plans to go outside but feeling as though he COULDN'T go outside was another thing else entirely.
His little nose pressed against the cool glass of the window and then his whole face flopped against it as dramatically as it allowed. He sighed, rubbing his small nubbin' horns onto the window. It squished tenderly and he pushed off with his little beans before falling back onto his back. His glade tail spread out on the floor, Caelum stared up at the ceiling where the skylight was. It was shaped like the marking on his forehead, and through the glass he watched as the rain pounded down on the roof.
His eyes closed softly and he listened to the sounds of the raindrops slamming against the roof. The sound of the wind blowing by the window. The whistling and howling swimming through his ears as the lights from the lanterns of Silveil City glistening against the raindrops It lulled him into a soft, slow sleep as the sounds repeated over and over.
Soon the sound of the rain mixed with the soft breathing of a kittom on the floor. Lulled to sleep by the white noise of the storm, he slept peacefully until the sound slowly faded away. Upon waking up, Caelum discovered that the storm had ended. The clouds had dispersed and he could see the beautiful galaxy sky again. He smiled up as he admired it, rolling over and sitting at the window again. He had actually never seen a sky other than the one that was permanently night, although he'd heard it existed... he couldn't imagine not being able to see the stars at any time.
A storm was the closest he would get to that!
Deciding to appreciate the things he loved now that the storm was over, he went over and put on his little rain boots. He left the apartment and upon reaching the market outside, he began to jump into all the puddles. He watched the reflection in them disperse and then come back around as the water settled.
With not as many folk around because of the recent rain, Caelum ran around. He leapt into puddles by market stalls, and swung around the lantern posts. Eventually he made his way to the beach and began to splash around in the lake water, watching as the luminescent remnants splashed with it. He almost seemed to glow for a moment with each splash, something that delighted him. His own starlit suffusion seemed to gleam and sparkle more with each splash.
By the time the kittom was done, he was soaked. He was absolutely drenched, more so than he would have been had he been momentarily caught in the rain. Getting to decide to get soaked was what it was all about, though.
