Silveil was famous for a lot of things, including it's breathtaking scenery with plants and mushrooms as well as animals and algae having the ability to glow. In the night-shrouded region it was easy to get lost if it weren't for the bioluminescent traits of the flora and fauna. The animals that did live in Silveil all had excellent vision at night and were accustomed to surviving in the darkness. Birds were easily hunting and following small insects and rodents that didn't glow and would be very well hidden for any other creature to spot them. Hiding from these skilled birds was a difficult task. That's why one species of insect slowly evolved to survive under these conditions. They were bugs that mostly ate leaves and mushrooms, they weren't bigger than a coin and had only limited flying abilities, making them an easy target for agile hunters. When they were on the mushrooms it was easy to spot them because of the dark spots they created on the otherwise glowing mushrooms. So the bugs evolved to mimic that glow, becoming somewhat similar to charmeleons. They were able to let their body be dark and unassuming when crossing the darker patches of grass or the bark of trees but when crawling up glowing plants and mushrooms their bodies began to emit that glow as well, making them almost invisible on first glance. The bugs didn't have an official name yet and had so far been only seen in Silveil, even though there may be bugs in other places that were similar but used a different tactic to hide themselves that didn't involve glowing. So far the bugs had been surviving well in Silveil and thrived on the plant life to eat. Some birds were still able to pick them off when they were moving on spotted plants where the bugs weren't fast enough to switch their glow on and off when moving from a glowing spot to a dark area so the bug population wasn't growing too fast.
