Nono had learned a lot these last few weeks he had spent in Silveil. At first he didn't know how he would like this long vacation here because of the night that never went away. Nono was not scared of the darkness per se, but... he didn't really do well with bushes rustling and animal eyes lighting up in shadows. Kiki always called him scared but he was just cautious, okay! After spending some time in Silveil and getting to learn more about this unique region he really gotten to like it though. The glowing mushrooms and flowers especially had really captured his heart and he liked to spend lots of time just staring at the petals in wonder. A part of him really wanted to take a few of them with him and plant them back home to see if they would still glow or not. But he would feel really bad if they didn't survive...
A part of wandering all through Silveil was seeking shelter at the safe travelers havens. Nono had come to like staying at them when he had a long trip into the forest behind him and wanted to stay longer than an hour before he would have had to turn back again to get to Kiki in time. So instead he spent some nights in the travelers haven. The one he liked the best so far was a small but sturdy tree house. It had taken some effort to get up the wobbling ladder the first time but since then Nono had spend a lot of time in here. It was great for looking around the near forest and seeing some birds from a better view. It also felt safer than some caves he had encountered and the added warmth from staying on a wooden platform instead of stone cold ground was not small! Nono could see that the tree house had been built with lots of love and care but it had truly seen better days. So this weekend he decided to get some supplies and bring some of its former glory back! He had heard of other Elnin repairing or securing travelers havens but Nono had never actually been involved. It always seemed to be a task for grown-ups, but staying in the tree house on his own had brought a sense of bravado and responsibility. Nono had a full backpack with him as he made his way through the now pretty familiar forest and up to the tree house. He was in high spirits and couldn't wait getting to work!

The backpack he had with him wasn't the usual light carrier bag that he used when going into stores or visiting friends. It was his adventurer backpack - or else what he thought would be needed when going on an adventure - and had a lot of useful supplies packed inside. Nono had wanted to have such a bag ever since Kiki and him had gotten caught in a storm and didn't make it home in time. They had to cower underneath a tree and were cold and miserable for hours until the storm had passed. That's why the first item that went into the backpack had been a raincoat to cover him and his belongings. That and some light paw covers for running through mud. It also had a compass, a magnet, tape, a pocket knife and some first aid supplies. There had been a few protein bars in it as well but Nono had seen too late that Kiki had stolen them at some point. He should probably make a list of what should be in the bag and check that every time before he went out and used it. At least he still had the tofu jerky that Kiki didn't like!
He usually also had a sleeping bag in it but there hadn't been enough room this time because of the other supplies he had stuffed inside which included a big blanket. That had just taken too much space. He also had a map, some paper and pens tucked away in his backpack. On the outside of it he had strapped a lantern to it. A good light source was always important, especially when you were travelling at night - or through Silveil. The glow from the local fauna and flora was beautiful to look at but didn't always provide enough light to traverse the terrain. With the lantern at his side Nono felt definitely more confident in following the path because he could actually see the difference between the road and slightly darker grass around it.

The first thing he brought exclusively for the safe haven was a box of candles and some matches. The tree house did have some leftovers but they had burned down quick. Nono made sure to leave two big candles at the base of the tree where there were big round stones flanking the ladder so that the entrance could be visible from afar. The rest he would bring ino the tree house itself. But before he would climb up he wanted to strengthen the ladder a little bit. Nono had no experience working with wood and using saws so he didn't feel comfortable trying to make new ladder pieces entirely. But he did bring some wood glue and new rope. He got started on using the glue on the first ladder rungs at the bottom, filling in some cracks with it. After he was finished with 3 Nono realized that he wouldn't actually reach the whole ladder this way. Maybe he should climb up after all and pull the ladder with him inside of the house. Then he could also just relax there while it dried or get to work on his other plans. After some contemplation this seemed like the best plan so Nono was careful to reach up and step on the ladder pieces he hadn't glued yet and made his way up. He pulled the ladder up and hoped that noone needed to use the travelers haven right now! That would be just his bad luck with timing....

Having the rope ladder pulled up also helped with looking at all sides of the wood pieces so he didn't miss anything. After glueing the places that needed some support he got out the rope he bought. The original rope was still sturdy but some knots had tightened so much over time and got exposed to the weather that they gotten smaller, making the steps uneven. Nono used the new rope to tie knots to support the old ones. He would have to try it out when the glue was dry but for now this looked pretty even!
After taking care of the rope ladder Nono got out the candles he bought and the matches. He melted some of the wax and let it drip on the window sill, then he stuck two candles on it. The rest of them got put away into the supply crate. Speaking of: There had been a map in the crate but some bugs had nibbled on it so Nono had gotten a new one and put it up on the wall with some tape. He also had gotten a blanket that he put into the crate. He had spent some nights here so he knew how chilly it could be and a nice blanket could always help! The last touch he added to the tree house was a small blackboard and chalk in four different colors. It could be nice to leave some messages for the travellers that came to visit after you or just to draw a bit on it to pass the time.

Nono was happy with the changes he made and tested if the glue was already dry. It seemed like it would still need a bit so instead he made himself comfortable and began to draw a picture on the blackboard.
