The surrounding forests of Silveil are packed with a stunning variety of life, and if one were to step into the gloom they would quickly discover that a great portion of the flora around them seem to have a particular quality — that is, they have a tendency to bioluminesce. Under the never-ending night, many colors and intensities of glow can be observed. One such curiosity is a mushroom species known by locals as the Wishing Star. A usually unassuming mushroom, it is most commonly found on and around rotting branches or logs, and seem to grow in multitudes coincidentally after meteor showers. Its shape, apropos to its name, resembles a star: the round cap is framed by eight vertices, four inwards and four outwards, sitting upon a thick stalk. Its coloration is ordinarily plain, with a white surface covered in small blue specks. However, at regular periods the specimen will undergo a transformation.

Though the exact conditions necessary for such an event are not sufficiently documented, occasionally the mushrooms will swell to around three times their normal size, fan their caps outward, and begin to glow a bright icy blue. In this state, they will release spores that take an appearance almost exactly like those of the stars in the skies above Silveil. From afar, they appear as if a stretch of the galaxy itself had come to settle down into the forest. They have been observed swirling through a multitude of patterns and colors, sometimes seeming to mirror the brilliance of the night overhead and some elnin have even claimed to have seen accurate representations of constellations within. The spores can drift for quite some time and for some distance, so occasionally small clouds of them can be seen within the inner city.

These mushrooms are, unsurprisingly, a point of fascination for many of the kittoms who live in and around Silveil. It is a pervasive belief among them that when one comes across a Star releasing spores, it is appropriate to make a wish, so that the sparks can carry their wish upon the wind, up and up, away to join the other stars in the sky.
