On a bright sunny day, Ren woke up with the intention to find the perfect gift for her friend Ami. They sent letters to each other every other week to stay in touch ever since they had met. The two had become fast friends. Ami had visited Ealei with her family on a shining day like today. Ren had been swimming in the pond as she usually did after a hard day's work, but Ami had strayed from her family and couldn’t find her way back. Luckily she had stumbled upon Ren on her daily swim. She often found herself gathering manaberries during her swim. That day she filled a whole basket when a clumsy kittom a stumbled in it making all the berries fall back in the water. 

Ren had poked fun at the clumsy kittom not understanding how she could be so clumsy, having fallen in the water with the basket of manaberries. But as soon as she laughed the other kittom had started crying. The bright yellow kittom had tried everything to calm the crying kittom, but there was no stopping her tears. She helped her out of the water and offered her one of the manaberries. At first the green kittom looked at her funny but soon after she snatched it right out of her paws. The kittom stuffed the whole berry in her mouth and stopped crying. The kittom quickly asked if there were more of them. Ren shrugged as she jumped back into the water gathering all that had been lost. Luckily they hadn’t gone too far with the current. Getting back out of the water and bringing her basket of berries, the other kittom burst out laughing at Ren. As the yellow kittom put down the basket on the wooden pier, she looked at the other kittom who was laughing uncontrollably. First she was crying and now she was laughing? Ren started to wonder if the green kittom with the funny fishy tail was insane. She had no idea why the other one was laughing at her so much but maybe it had to do with the lilly pad that had gotten stuck on her head. 

Ren yelled out at her “ what’s so funny !” The other kittom did not answer as she was still laughing but all she did was point at the top of Ren head. That’s how the yellow kittom had ended up with the nickname “Ducky” for the lilly pad and for how good of a swimmer she was. Ever since that day they had become good friends. The day had ended with them swimming some more and spending the day gathering Manaberries and basically eating just as many as they had gathered. Ami had gotten lost but in the end she found a friend instead. Since Ren was native to Ealei she had helped her find her way back to the village and her family. They had exchanged contact and since then had been sending letters to each other as Ami lived in Enmir. 

Through their exchange Ami had told Ren they would be coming back for the Miasma season with her family. Ren was so thrilled that she wanted to find the perfect gift for her friend. At first Ren had gathered 3 baskets of manaberries and kept them for Ami, but then she thought that they could just do that as a day activity and that she needed to be more creative to show her friend just how much she cared for her. Berries were too simple and easy to acquire here. Even though she had spent hours swimming for them and even something crawling in the Eldertree to get them. 

On another day she set out and tried to catch a pet fish as there were so many nice fishes that swam in the waters of Ealei. The water was always crystal clear and she would see them often swimming beneath her. But again she thought her friend might not be able to bring the fish back with her once she left. She needed to think of something better. 

Sitting out on a pier she looked out at the trees and then at the water, that’s when she heard the noise “Ribbet”. That’s when the idea came to her “ A frog!!!! It’s perfect !” Ren exclaimed. Finding a gift,catching it would be the other half of the battle. Good thing the little yellow kittom had come well equipped with a basket and a net. 

Ren jumped in the water trying not to stir the water too much as she held her net and put her basket not far off. The good thing is the basket once it was empty floated in the water. She waited patiently for the noise again as she looked at the lilly pads near her. She swore it had to be near here. “Ribbet” before she even knew it Ren swung her net and she caught the frog. She gently put it in the basket with the net keeping it from jumping out. 

Once she had dried out and fashioned a cute ribbon on her new pet. No one should question how she managed but she did put a cute pink ribbon on the frog. It seemed Ren had a way with the wildlife, the little creature didn’t even try to run away anymore. She even put it in a cute little box with holes in it and brought it over to where Ami was staying with her family. Knocking on the door Ren waited as the door slipped open and Ami sister Kana opened the door. Rolling her eyes as the yellow kittom asked for her sister instead, Kanako yelled “AMI THE DOOR FOR YOU” she wondered what that attitude was about but not caring at the moment, Ami peeked through the door. They hadn’t seen each other in so long they hugged for a long time. Ren, all excited, offered her gift to Ami. “ Here I got you something.” Extending her paws, the friend took the box and opened it. “Ribbet” it said as it leaped from the box and hopped into the house. Next all you heard was screaming and Elnins and kittoms running through the house to try and catch a little frog with a ribbon.
