In the heart of one of Bellmoril’s secluded forests, an elnin had stumbled upon a unique species endemic to this land.  This enchanting creature goes by many names, including the amber fox, the forest fox, or the Bellmoril fox, and it’s built to blend seamlessly with the eternal rust and gold leaves of its habitat.

The fox is uniquely adapted to its environment.  Its fur is tinted with patches of fiery reads, burnt oranges, and golden hues that mirror the resplendent foliage that carpets the forest floor.  Unlike it’s closest fox relatives, the distinctive patches on this fox’ coat are how each fox can identify members of its own species, and the patches vary subtly throughout the course of its life, darkening in color as it grows older.

As foxes are often known for their intelligence and craftiness, so does this species of fox exhibit exceptional problem-solving skills.  The foxes have been known to ensure their habitat has an abundant cover of fall leaves upon the soil and have been seen deliberately moving the leaves to create more forms of camouflage and concealment.  The leaves not only aid the fox in hunting, however, but they are known for constructing their nests and burrows using the very leaves their lives depend on.  The have also been known for their climbing skills—as a fox will climb trees and navigate through the branches of the trees with ease, and have been even seen shaking the branches in order to obtain more leaves for the protection of the foliage cover.

An omnivore, these foxes have been spotted eating anything from nuts, berries, to small mammals and birds abundant in their ecosystem.

While initially thought to be rare, some elnin suspects the animals might be more common than initially thought—simply, incredibly difficult to spot.  With their ability to blend seamlessly into their environment, it’s no wonder they are not often spotted.
