While in Kyendi Elora couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for the wilderness. This region was filled with so much mystery and beauty yet so much of it was overgrown. Just looking at it, one could only feel that some of the beauty was a bit lost as weeds grew out of control in some areas. On one of her days free from prying eyes, Elora decided to clean up the area a bit. She put some balm on her paws to protect them from the rough work ahead and got to cleaning the outside area of the village. Most locals were very good about not leaving trash around, but small sticks would fall to the ground sometimes. Then there were leaves that would get dragged in on the wheels of carts passing through, only to be littered throughout the area. There were many unkempt paths around the houses too and spare wood from buildings toppled outside of homes.
Elora first started with picking up the bigger objects that she could manage. To be fair, she couldn’t move the larger logs but small sticks were just fine for a small kittom like herself. She set the small bramble pile next to some pieces of wood that had fallen over next to a home. After stacking those up and running around to collect some leaves, she moved on to sweeping and raking the zen garden next to the house. Carefully she would only step in the areas she hadn’t raked yet and shifted a few stones around to fancy up the area a little bit. Once content, she finished raking the rest of the sand and pebbles to the garden’s edge.
By this time of day she was slowing down a bit and decided to take a break. She layed down among the jungle plants and stared up at the sky, admiring the floating islands that hung far above. A few of them had waterfalls pouring off their edges, and the water would become a mist that probably contributed to the fog that fell on the rounded mountains below. It was nice to take in the sights for the short break. Cleaning up around the Kyendi village was mostly done, so Elora moved on to the paths just around it.
She pushed up the occasional small sign post and spotted an overgrown path near it. Taking a broom she found a trail of flat stones through the undergrowth, using the end of the broom to push back some of the growth. A broom alone wouldn’t be enough to really clear the path of all the dense jungle foliage. She set down the broom and got to work pulling weeds out from between the stones and at the edge of the path. Soon she had pulled up most of the weeds, but what remained was a path just covered in the pulled leaves. A little handiwork with the broom and Elora felt confident she had cleared all of the leaves that obscured the path once the leaves were left to die on it.
She got a rag and a little pail of water and began to wash the stones. The washing was a bit unnecessary but Elora felt like it would be a nice touch. She probably wouldn’t be able to clear off all the dirt but what remained she was ok leaving. The moss growing on some of the stones would act as good padding and she wasn’t too worried if she left a little. As she wandered down the path she noticed a very rough overgrown shrine at the end of one. It was a very simply designed shrine but Elora could tell it had been here a long time. While it wasn’t something from the wilds themselves, she felt some tidying was worth doing here.
She refilled the bucket and carefully carried it down the path towards the shrine. Then after setting the bucket down on the path, she redirected her efforts and worked to tear off some of the vines that had taken over the bulk of the stacked stone structure. Once those were off she washed the shrine, taking note of some of the cracks in it. In the area there were a few small ruins she was also able to clear and clean up, but she was a bit wary of possibly upsetting some feyfolk so she was careful to place any objects that seemed like offerings back near the shrine and ruins. She left a particularly shiny bauble at the base of the shrine that she had found while cleaning in town.
On her way back from cleaning the path somehow it looked just a bit different. Maybe she had been too busy cleaning earlier to notice, but the landscape around her was very beautiful. All around her were various tropical plants and flowers and one spot on the path had a tree that had fallen. She couldn’t move the tree, but it did reveal rice patties in the distance which was nice to see. Kyendi wasn’t that far from Faerindell where food production was a bit more of a specialty for grown crops. After a longer walk back then expected Elora found herself back in the village and content with her handiwork. It had been a busy day but the sight of a clean town was all Elora needed. She may not have needed to do this much but once she got to cleaning the time and work went quickly. As the sun started to set she made her way back into her temporary home in Kyendi and helped Chise with preparing dinner before it got much later.
