Basil's known for lending a hand to all the youngsters who wish to traverse the great realm of Eyre. He's also known as a humble farmer that provides bountiful harvests for the residents of Iorumund. But there's one title above all else that he is recognized with, and that is the title of father. For years he's workshopped his humble little abode, regarding it with nothing but tender love and care. Especially during those harsh winters that pound at his door, howling to be let in does he stress that his reinforcements through the spring and summer seasons not be enough. If there's a drip through the roof he's on it like a good friend's jelly on toast. Anything and everything faces no challenge to the dear father, for his determination is solely driven by his desire to provide the absolute best of the best in his power for his children. His focus is interrupted when a chilled droplet in their shared kitchen smacks at the top of his head, body pulling backwards in surprise before his eyes soften at the specific location of spillage. Back when his wife was still around, this was the only happenstance that would cause for her to complain; otherwise she was completely and utterly silent, unbothered by anything else. It seemed like only when she was present would this leak begin to act up. A paw palms against his cheek, pondering his last placed tools until a golden filigree kittom trotted past him with a travel case of various instruments with a beaming smile,."Hey Papa! You were talkin' out loud again about your tools, need my help with anythin' ?" Eos' large golden optics rest on her hardworking father, paws clutching tighter around the wrench as she inquires of her potential help and Basil can't help the warm swell in his chest when she looks at him that way. He had raised such a hard worker, just like his father and his father's father before him...
After some time scrambling around to locate a stepstool, the adult allows his shining star to crawl up and examine the leak first. "Hah, this one isn't so terrible Papa... Mama was always kinda dramatic when it came to water, hm?" Reminiscing about her mother the same way he had done was nice, recalling Yoko was nice. She crawls down and holds the tool out medival style, eliciting a snort from the farmer. Eos was never a handful, but boy was she pretty silly! With his own assesment and multiple attempts at sealing the leak, he settles on patching it up with a rubber patch he had on hand as a gift from some old friends. It finally got some use, and the leak wouldn't warp the hardwood floors of his house. Shuffling slowly to stash his tools away, Basil raises both his eyebrows in question when Eos grabs ahold of his arm and tugs him forward a bit. "Hey, we never checked the barn... What if somethin's goin' on there and we end up missin' it?" Nodding along to his daughter's concern, the adult takes careful strides to the bardyard out back with certain cattle. Passing by, Eos beams when she takes note that the pond they have for visiting geese has frozen, pointing out that when they're free of work they can possibly skate some to pass the time, or even invite other friends over! The animals appeared content, some leaning forward with the goal of being soothed by pets in mind. Eos complies, tittering with laughter when some lick back as their own form of affection. A lone window showcases just how thick that blanket of snowfall collected on the roof of the barn, sleet edging its way down the side of the animal sanctuary. It makes a thick splat when colliding with the ground, resulting in a wince from Eos and a sigh from Basil. He'll have to mark it off later to prevent any visitors from slipping, or worse!
While there wasn't a leak like the house, there was a few boards on the side of the barn that had been kicked out of place, something that simply wouldn't do. It's never really fun to do repairs, but Basil has the fortune of a loving daughter who would do just about anything to spend some quality time with him, even if it means tidying up their ranch every once in a while.
