Plants in Zevjia are...unique to say the least. Bright colors and interesting methods of obtaining the right nutrients for food that doesn't follow the typical photosynthetic process are more common than not. One such example of this is known as the Zevijian Violet. This plant is one of the most noticable of unique methods of growth, since typical water is actually toxic to this plant!! Instead, the Zevijian Violet relies on minerals in the soil rather than the water itself. The plant produces a unique sap from its bright red leaves that help to dissolve the soil around it, which also causes the ground itself to weaken. The mixture of soil and water turns into a slurry, which coats the roots as well as produces a toxic chemical throughout the root and stem system. Although there are some animals that have developed the necessary response to the chemical, most of the time these plants don't have to worry about natural predators, but instead have to compete against its own species! Too many Zevijian Violets in the area can cause the ground to become so weak, the plants will actually begin to submurge into the ground itself. When this happens, pits can form in the area that are dangerous to walk upon and it will take nearly a year for the area to return to its normal state.
The plant itself, however, is quite beautiful. And some people take great care to harvest and preserve this flower in some sort of crystal. The leaves of this plant come in varying shades of red, with the brighter colors being an indicator of potency in their chemical production. The leaves themselves are also coated in fine splinters that serve as a secondary line of defense against smaller predators, like insects. The flower itself comes in shades of blue, with 6 petals notched near the tips that contrast nicely against the warmly-colored leaves. There are some rumors of rare yellow and purple-colored flower shades, but none have ever actually showed up on the market. Currently researchers value the plant highly in order to understand its chemical properties and put them to use for bug repellants!
