In the heart of the wild untamed jungles of Kyendi, amidst the lush green foliage and hidden amongst the tangled vegetation, a curious elnin might find a unique plant.  A marvel of botanic ingenuity, this slender plant has sinuous stems that weave intricate curling patterns reminiscent of coiling serpents, which has gained it the name of serpentvine in the most populated areas of Kyendi.

The serpentvine’s leaves are a glossy emerald green with delicate veins that glisten like precious jewels in the sunlit humidity of the dense canopy above.  Each leaf bears a certain iridescence that changes hues when exposed to varying angles of light, displaying a mesmerizing spectrum from azura blues to deep purples.

What sets the serpentvine apart is its uncanny ability to perfectly mimic the animal is it named after, with the end of stems tapered into what’s often referred to as its “head”.  The curling vines themselves have a unique velvety texture that makes them stand out from other flora in the region.  Some stems even possess mesmerizing patterns, almost like spots or stripes that enhance the idea that what an elnin is looking at is a snake instead of a plant.  This effect is enhanced when the wind reaches the vines, as their flattened “heads” will sway gently in the wind, in a way that’s reminiscence of a snake question for its prey.  Some local legends even suggest the vines have the ability to turn into serpents at night or will grant elnin boons for helping them in their journey to become real serpents.  While charming, no proof exists that serpentvines actually have this capability.

In full bloom, the serpentvine produces a cluster of delicate flowers that hang low like exquisite pendulums.  These flowers appear in brilliant jewel tones of deep blue, red, or purple depending on the area of which they are found.  They have a soft gentle fragrance that mixes with the scents of the surrounding forest.
