During his time in Ahza in a village he had seen a local that could use a flute and could make a cobra dance. Vesper had never tried any instruments before but he was determined to learn this one. How cool would it be to make a snake dance ! Sadly no local would teach him the art so he had to learn it on his own. The little kittom had always been resourceful in finding jobs wherever he went. Here he had gotten a job helping move around sand bricks. People here used them all the time to build new places or to replace the ones that were crumbling down. Even Fireworks would help him, no one was really sure on what kind of help he was but he was always ready.
The work was hard but it kept the two comrades out of trouble. Whatever pocket money Vesper was making he would use for lodging and eating. Any spare change he would put in his savings to one day buy his flute. At first they had found the climate too hot for their taste but now they were accustomed to the hot sandy weather of Ahza. Sure it was hot when he worked to get the blocks from the quarry and move to where they were needed but otherwise they both had learned to love the sunny days. The one thing however the two friends never learnt to love is all the sand that got stuck in their fur. Due to the hot and dry weather, Vesper's fur had gotten a lot more brittle. But every night Fireworks would help take care of it to stay nice and soft. In return the little kittom would do the same for his pomu.
Time had gone by that Vesper and his pomu could almost be considered locals. Everyone around town knew them. Most older Elnins would also keep an eye out for the small kittom. Some worried about him and how he was always on his own with his pomu. But he always assured them that he had always been on his own. Besides he never really was alone, he always had his pomu companion.
Each day once he was done with his work he would always take time to watch the snake charmers. He too one day wanted to be able to do it. It's probably what kept him long enough here in Ahza. He wasn't hating the place but it wasn't one to stay too long. He knew there was much more of Eyre he wanted to visit. But right now all his attention was on his goal and not on his adventurous side.
He would stay much longer in his hot climate, until reaches his goal. Many around here played and knew the flute well but he was determined to learn on his own. It was a common musical hobby of Ahza to learn the flute. One could say the little kittom had been converted to the local lifestyle. Many had doubted at first that Vesper would stick around with his pomu. But the two wanted to play the flute. It was hard to earn a living. The kittom often found himself spending money to keep hydrated and well fed. The kittom got somewhat used to Ahza's heat but he found himself drinking a lot more than he used to. The scorching hot sand in the quarry was something no one ever got used to.
Today was the day that Vesper could finally get his hands on his prize. He had finally saved up enough to get himself a flute along with one for Fireworks. After work they both headed to the local flute maker and purchased a beautifully handcrafted one with nice details. At the shop the craftsman taught him a few easy steps of how to inhale and exhale and a nice sound. Ravaging through town the two went on with their new instruments and disrupted the local. Neither of them could do a proper song. The more they tried the more the locals regretted ever becoming fond of Vesper and Fireworks. But there was no stopping them. They were going to become snake charmers.
One of the ancient locals, which the small kittom always wondered how truly old he was. He was so old he was almost like the sand surrounding them. At least that's what the kittom thought to himself. He was the best flute player in town and some would like to argue all of Eyre. He had decided to teach Vesper how to play it properly so the two comrades would stop making everyone's ears bleed. Everyday after his shift he would visit the elderly man and learn slowly how to make a proper sound. Each day they got better and started being able to play the start of a song. At first no one had hoped they would ever even learn but as time went by with the old man's guidance, they got better and better.
When the time came for the local festival the two companions busted out in song and the locals joined in and everyone began to dance. Maybe Vesper wasn't a snake charmer yet but people sure took a liking to him, especially the old man. The kittom and the pomu were having a blast and they were finally getting a sense of what a community lifestyle was like. For once they felt at home and part of the crowd. People were even leaving tips behind for them. They were a perfect lyrical duo.
