Watery Wonders

Region: bellmoril

A nice breeze swept through the amber hued forest. Warm colours of gold, red and amber were in full flourish here, and trotting along one of the many paths through the forest, a pair of white kittoms were meandering, one of which was consulting a map.  "Are you sure this is the right trail, Rochaille?" a kittom asked, frowning slightly at the map, their black whiskers twitching with confusion. 

"Yes! Do not worry, Kuu. My best friend's, best friend told me about this place! Now if we can just find the fang toothed rock... OH! This way!" Kuu, rolled his eyes again, his white fluffy mane puffing up with disdain as they watched their fellow white kittom prance ahead. The pale blush of her floral rococo markings, sun dappled under the afternoon forest light.  Golden hued maple leaves fell from the eldertree overhead, and Kuu made a silent prayer for the eldertree's guidance in finding this 'mystical' fishing spot. "Oh hurry up Kuu!" Rochaille yelled back at them. 

"I'm coming!!" he yelled back, before muttering "...some elnin just have no patience for the proper Il'durahn shrine rituals."

Rochaille couldn't help herself, but get further and further away from Kuu. She closed her silvery eyes and breathed in the scent of the crisp air, enjoying the crunch of the fallen leaves under her toe beans. Her pomu, Gildy, popped out of her shadow, doing a cannonball directly into a large pile of fallen leaves, and Rochaille couldn't help but let out a giggle, before searching through the leaves to find her bestie, rolling around contentedly, making soft chirrups of content. She grabbed his soft black fluffy form by the scruff of his neck and tossed him onto her back. "Gildy, you know Kuu wouldn't appreciate you diving into those well swept leaf piles. We've gotta try and be respectful, we're just visitors after all." She listened as Gildy, made a few nasty chirrups and clicks , before settling onto his stomach, gripping onto her petite ears and looking around boredly. Shortly afterwards their tour guide Kuu hurried up to them shaking his whiskers in concern, before consulting Rochaille with the map.

"So, we go left past Fang rock as you've called it... and follow along the path till we get to this bend in the river?" 

"Yes! That's it exactly, according to Calcifer, there should be a lull in the bend in the river, that is perfect for fishing! It will allow us to use our elemental channeling and try out fishing with those old school lures you have!"

"Hmph... do not worry! I am a professional at fishing so there'll be no problems here. My master is well versed in the best bait for Bellmoril. Well, we shouldn't be too far away then, but.... could you perhaps keep your pomu under control? He's cannonballing into every leaf pile he sees!" 

"Ahaha... a pomu will do what a pomu will want to do... But I'll do my best to curb his boredom" Rochaille said, grabbing Gildy by the back of the head, and bowing in apology to Kuu. Gildy in turn made  a few irritated clicks, but conceded to bowing to the fellow kittom. Kuu let out a sigh, rolling up the map and the trio continued on their way down the leaf pile laden path.

___ an hour later ___

Rochaille couldn't help but let out a gasp as the perfect fishing spot came into view! Red and gold maple trees lined both sides of the river, and small tiered waterfalls, led to the wide open expanse of the river. A small red wooden dock connected to the path they were on. Kuu, Rochaille and Gildy admired the area for a few minutes, before the trio got to work pulling out the old school net Kuu had stored in his shadow. Carefully Kuu tied it to the dock's posts and taught Rochaille about the traditional knots to prepare the net for holding fish. They then taught Rochaille the traditional pre-ritual words for a blessing of a good catch. Finally, Kuu began to teach Rochaille about how to fish.

He then began to explain the different baits and lures used in different locations. How some fish like to eat certain foods that are local to their regions, and others preferred to go for certain colours in the water. 

___ several hours later ___

"URGH! I give up!" Rochaille said, flopping onto the ground with annoyance. It had been hours and she still hadn't caught a single fish!!!!  Irritated she flopped next to her pomu Gildy and sulked. 

"Patience is key!" Kuu exclaimed, "Sometimes the fish aren't hungry or swimming around the area, aand speaking of food, what do you thinka bout stopping here for a short snack break?" their pomu, Yuki, climbed out of Kuu's shadow as if she had been waiting for the mention of food. With her she carried a delicious feast of packed local delicacies. 

"Oh fine." Rochaillle huffed, helping Yuki to set the picnic blanket, before picking through the various delicacies deciding on grabbing a few maple themed treats and tucking into the sweet flavours. 

___a short snack break later ___

"I think I got one! It's on the hook!" 

"Yep, that's a live one alright! Now hold the rod steady and reel in carefully, if you feel tension give the string some slack as you don't want your string to break." Kuu advised. Slowly and with a lot of effort, the duo managed to reel in the fish together. 

"Oh wow!! Look it's a big catch!" Rochaille exclaimed, beaming with joy. Kuu couldn't help but smile as she showed off her catch proudly to Kuu and Gildy.

It had been an exciting day of fishing for all.
