Ro wasn't entirely sure why he'd set out in the first place; a case of the itchy paws, Suki had told him when he'd spoken to her briefly before setting out. It was clear to him that the kitsune like kittom seemed to know a thing or two of the phenomenon, but for Rodinger himself... it was a new thing, a new feeling, to be honest. He hadn't really spent much time roaming, let along wanting to do so. He'd been quite content to stay in Kyendi and spend his time with his Kyunru mentor, but something in his body itched to go, to move, almost too suddenly for him to explain himself.

Lamia had taken one long look at him, almost as if evaluating him, and had then nodded, as if the urge to up and go had been quite natural and nothing out of the ordinary; almost as if she'd expected this urge to manifest sooner rather than later. When questioned about it, the kyun had shrugged her sleek shoulders and responded that it was just the elnin way. The young grow, and to do so... they must seek out discovery, and feel it in their soul. As such, some form of roaming was necessary for that growth, and it was thus natural for him to get antsy and want to move around from region to region for a while. She had given him some instructions of what to avoid, how to conduct himself, and had then told him to go forth and seek whatever it was he was looking for. That she'd be right there when he returned.

Taking her words to heart, he had set of, and had roamed a long way, until he'd stumbled across Ahza. It wasn't the deserts and bones that called to him the most though, even if it was true that something about the sandy dunes at night had made the place seem almost like home to him. It was the storm lands that had really caught his eye.

Something about the near constant rain, and the thunder that streaked the land had truly made him feel... perhaps not bound to place, but somewhat experiencing a kinship of sorts. He had thus stopped the roaming, as he figured whatever his itchy paws were after, was, without a shadow of a doubt, to be found in these rolling grassy hills, covered in storm clouds.

It took him a while to realize that he felt better spending time awake at night, much like Lamia did back in Kyendi; she had once explained it to him as just a natural need. Different creatures were awake at different times, and he should just find the best fit for him. Here, however, under the rain and watching the thunder streak sky, reflecting over the water of the rivers, Rodinger figured he understood what she meant.

A soft cooing sound roused him from his inner thoughts and he lowered his gaze to watch his pomu hold up a smooth, rounded stone in question, "Doesn't feel right," he told his companion, and the pomu placed the rock back down on the ground, searching with its eyes for something that would catch both their attention. He wanted to bring something back home to his mentor; something that would somehow encapsulate what he felt when he was sitting there, in the darkness of the storm, at the shores of the river. But nothing his pomu or himself could find was exactly fitting, "Perhaps in the water..." he told the pomu, whom turned to look at him with an expression that clearly indicated it wanted NOTHING to do with the water, thank you very much, "A pity, but you're right. I don't quite fancy going in there right now either."

The pomu shrugged its shoulders, and went back into his shadow, barely visible as it was, poking here and there at a stone or two before sinking back into nothingness.

Rodinger let out a sigh and was about to move to a different part of the river when a splash caught his attention; in front of him, a sleek, small elnin splashed in the water, and when it surfaced, it had a glittering rock in its mouth. Violet colored eyes met his, as said elnin waded closer, "Sorry," the stranger murmured, "I couldn't help but overhear you talking... and I mean, I figured, while I was here, I could help out?" the elnin proceeded to jump out of the water, shaking itself off, for what little it did; it was still storming above them, "Sometimes, crystals and pretty rocks get swept by the rivers and waters in the stormlands. I don't know where they come from... but if I'd have to guess, I think its from the deserts. You know, where the skeletons are? I figure the water just... washes naturally into these lands, and brings anything it picks up with it," the elnin placed a small, red crystal at Rodinger's feet and grinned, "I'm Misfit, by the by! Would you like some company tonight?"

The crystal at his feet strongly reminded Rodinger of Lamia's eyes, and he instantly knew it would make the most wonderful gift to give his mentor. Something that would remind her of the journey he was making. He gazed at Misfit, whom seemed to be trying to urge him to pick up the crystal, "Thank you, truly. This is perfect," no sooner had he said it, that his pomu peeked out and grabbed it, storing it in his shadow, "I would appreciate the company. Are you okay walking?"

Misfit seemed to perk up immediately, his tail wagging slightly before he nodded and both elnin set off down the river. Perhaps they would find many more treasures washed in by the waters.
