I'm so slow at drawing right now, but the idea I had was quite important in the background of my kittom that I tried to make a written version of the scene I wanted to do first...
And were I only posted the background in the Regional prompt XD

After enjoying for several months the company of the other kittoms in the « kiddos trailer » of the caravan, Unagi started to feel like he would like a bit more than that.
The other kittoms'games and all the activities that Ricqlès put up for them didn't amaze him like they used to.

 

In fact, he realised that he was mostly waiting for the diner hours.
He become a bit of a gourmet with time and really enjoyed the meals that came for the restaurant trailer. A bit curious, he started to approch the cook nin, Tendo, and watch him work during the day.

And, as it happens most of the time, the kittom has been trust with a small task, and then another one... And so on.
The day came when Unagi noticed that he wasn't paying attention to the games and the kiddos trailer anymore... But ran straight to the restaurant every morning to help Tendo that called him « his small apprentice » (or sometimes... Sushi boy, but that's another story)

It was hard work but it was fun !
Others adults always told that Tendo had an awful sense of humor but to be honest... Unagi liked it ! It was fun and he laughed a lot with the fishernin.
The kittom started to dream of becoming a cook himself one day.

But... he was so small.
He tried his best to help Tendo, but he was just a child,
Oh sure, he was clever ! A clever and ressourceful kittom that always had good ideas to make things easier for his mentor.
But he was weak,
And whatever he tried... A kittom cannot grow muscles.
He was frustrated, he wated to help more ! He wanted to take care of bigger tasks, to be trusted with some important missions.

One evening, as he was delivering the meal to the tall kyunru, Faeryfinn, he spoke to him about his trouble.
The wise druid listened carefully and told him :
« Did you heard about the wishtree ? It's really not far from here in the forest.
Make a wish with your heart, and write it on three ribbons of three different colors that you will choose wisely. Theses colors must represent your wish.
Then go to the three and built a braid with theses ribbons on one of his branch.
It's a very common lucky tradition here in Kyendi. And it quite works ! I've made several braids back in the day when I lived there.
But be careful ! And do not tell your wish to anyone, or the charm won't work. »


Running back to Tendo, Unagi told him everything about the wishtree and that... he had a very important wish to make.
Tendo, of course, agreed and brought him at the tailor's caravan to buy some ribbons.
After hesitating a lot, Unagi choosed his own colors : a green ribbon, a brown and a white, and they took the road into the forest.

It was indeed a common Kyendi spot, almost a touristic one. The road was large, quite a bunch of other elnins were walking this path. There was a very old temple at the beginning of the road, where Tendo bought some snack for after the pilgrimage.
There were old stone lanterns all along the path, all covered in moss, and Unagi noticed some small figures, almost like toys, placed all round theses lanterns and between the trees when there was not enough room for them anymore.
Some wood signs showed some explanations about the place. Telling that the whole forest was sacred. There were different ways to make a wish or a prayer here, just... people were not encouraged to walk outside the path, to let the flora in peace.
Unagi hold tight his ribbons. Hoping that the wishtree was the best choice for what he had to ask.

They found the three easily at the end of the path.
All the braids was falling from all the branches, making the whole tree look like a gigantic, multicolored, willow tree that was reflecting happilly in a river running around his roots.

The branchs were quite high so Tendo took Unagi on his shoulders and started to walk into the river to reach an empty branch far from the crowd.

The kittom had to stand on the adult's shoulders (Tendo was strongly grabbing his feet) to reach the branch and managed to make a knot and then the braid with his three ribbons.

 

When he was done, Tendo gave him three other ribbons, from the exact same colors : green, brown and white.
Puzzled, the kittom asked why ?

 

- Make the same wish in my name, kiddo. I don't know what it is, but I sure wanna help you to get it. Whatever it is, I know you deserve it.


Moved, Unagi bite his lips and start to make another braid on the branch, right next the first one.
He wasn't sure if it was the way the wish usually worked but he didn't care. His mentor wanted to help and his trust felt so good for him.

Once done, Tendo put back the kittom on the ground, in the river where they played a bit before contemplate the tree with few onigiri as a snack.

Unagi didn't told anyone what was his wish,
He wished to become strong as two.

He wondered if.. The tree would answer his prayers.
