Palu’au Islands, a beach-like resort that everyone kept recommending to visit for a place of relaxation in the sun. I can’t help but curse at all those who recommended that I visit this cursive place.

Hot temperatures were a violent change from the frigid cold of Stryhalde and the bright sun was ever so blinding. My fur felt heavy and sticky as my tongue was as dry as the sand that got stuck in the crooks of my pads. Salt laid so heavy in the breeze from the ocean that you could feel your lungs being coated in it while the sand threatened to cook your paws alive. 

I tried to enjoy the green lushness of the beach and the brightly colored, different shaped shells but as soon as I picked up a shell and lifted it up to my ear just for a sharp pain to course through my body. Tossing the shell aside a small red creature carried the shell upon it’s back while beady eyes and two snapping claws as it quickly scurried across the sand.

Left in defeat and despair I settled myself down in the shade provided by a tree with large triangle leaves and rigid bark. I sat there quietly thinking over my choices and planning to never come to this place again yet my thoughts were quickly silenced as I looked up.

The setting sun turned the sky a lovely pink and orange as it reflected off the ocean water that was oddly calm. Sparkling in the late evening light as the water changed colors to match the sky. Large winged creatures flew across the sky as their cries sang alongside the lulling sound of the lapping waves against the sand. The heat was no longer a threat and the air no longer tried to choke me. Instead the sand felt soft and cool as the fresh scent of green, living plants filled my lungs. Taking another look around as I draw in the sand I was able to take in the true beauty of this beach, all the life that it breathes alongside all the colors I never thought I could see in one place. At first this place was torture but it was all worth it in the end to witness of the song of Palu’au islands.
