Cain swung his bag across his shoulder as he glanced back at the desert town, feeling ready to move on into the dunes. He had a long way to go before Kyendi was on the horizon. He had resupplied himself with food, water, and potions if he should need them. He figured he probably didn't, that he would be fine on the journey, but none could be too careful.

The kittom set off, leaving behind the terracotta houses. The early morning heat was already starting to set in and Cain could tell this would be a long day. He wasn't sure how far the ferry was, all he knew it was northwest of his location.

Throughout the day, the trail wound through rock canyons and sandy hills. He was trying to avoid going through the endless dunes of Ahza, fearing he might get lost. He forgot to buy a compass, which probably would help in his endeavors, but for now, he stuck to the obvious trail and followed signs if any forks in the road appeared. There weren't many and the direction was easy enough. He hoped perhaps there would be another village in his path or he would reach the ocean before dark, he didn't want to camp out in the open or hunch down into the rock. He wasn't exactly good at starting fires.

Not like there was any wood to be had anywhere anyway.

So he continued into the late evening as the sun dipped down below the frozen mountains of Strynhalde. The canyon he entered a few hours ago grew dark, and the winding paths were starting to exhaust him. The dust between his toes made his feet ache far beyond anything he'd experienced before. Cain was going to give up for the night, it seemed, unprepared for the cold night.

The kittom hunkered down into the base of a large rock, digging out some candles to make his resting place light. There wasn't any wood or plants to burn, only rock and sand for miles. "Well, at least I have some food. I might as well get some sleep and I'll continue in the morning..." he said, sitting down and opening his pack.

Ahza sure was a strange place.
