In ealei there is a s-equal kind of moss that grows high up in the forests that sprout from the branches of Yggdrasil. It isn’t found down lower to the ground, amongst the mangroves and wet roots of the lower reaches. It instead prefers higher altitudes, draping down from the branches much like Spanish moss. It comes in several varieties, clinging to the branches and hiding the various fruits that growth in abundance from the smaller trees. Much like the suffusions that can occur by being attuned to the mana in ealei, this moss takes either a rather metallic look, a sparkling shimmery look, or an iridescent look, depending on the height in which it grows. It’s extremely light weight, often waving in the wind, reminding the elnin who call ealei home of the featherlight mutation upon elnin hair. This is most pronounced in the shimmering and iridescent varieties that grow closer to the ground, as the scarcer metallic variety that only grows on the highest branches is much more stiff, instead seeming to encase the trees it grows on in a kind of flexible filigree. This moss doesn’t have much use in the way of medicine or cooking, but the skilled craftsnin of the area are adept at fashioning it into decor and clothing. It’s too light and fragile to make clothing out of entirely, but it perfect for adding as embellishments or to jewelry, and trinkets fashioned from bits of this moss are a hot trading commodity in the bustling ports of the roots of Yggdrasil. Since the population of ealei is quite high, it’s not uncommon to see these mosses adorning at least one or two people as you make your way through the cities, and families who live in the higher branches can make quite the living in harvesting the moss and transporting it down to the base of Yggdrasil.
