Miyako's favorite time of the year was just around the corner. This year she was going to go all out with the decorating. She had been planning for months ahead about which type of decoration she was going to set up for Feyhallow. Her library had plenty of nice hiding places for spooky decorations. To Miya Feyhallow was like no other and all year she would thrive for it. As the time got closer she would mark off the days off the calendar and the time was almost near. The few days ahead she would start carving various sizes of pumpkins and do different carvings, giving some scary faces, while others softer expressions. She would line up each pumpkin on the side of the steps and place a light in each so that when the time came the steps to the library could be seen anywhere on the street.
Silveil was one of the most wonderful places for Feyhallow as it was always night and the jack-o-lanterns lit so well under its starry night. Yako had found the perfect way to light her jack-o-lanterns the year she had run out of candles. The outskirts of Silveil city always had bioluminescent flora and Miyako had found the perfect use for it. She would place various coloured mushrooms in the carved pumpkins and they would light up the place and have an even better effect as they displayed different colours like blues, purple and pink. People around Silveil had started doing the same once they saw how bioluminescent her jack-o-lanterns were. She also had come up with the idea of hanging up white drop sheets with a bag full of these mushrooms and carved out two eyes making it seem like some haunting ghost. When the wind would catch it would make them move around as if they were real ghost figures haunting the citizens on the night of Feyhallow.
A few months ahead of the event she even stopped dusting the library so dust would naturally accumulate and the spiderwebs would start forming. Miya didn’t mind the spiders much unlike other people, sometimes it even gave her something to talk to. Feyhallow, was the night she saw the most people and also the night the library saw the most visitors. It had its history of being a place that was haunted. Long ago it was said that the Elnin that started the library was still haunting it's halls. Elnins passed around the stories of how the books moved around and sometimes you could hear some fall even though no one was there. To Yako these were only stories as she lived within its walls at all times. Sure sometimes books got misplaced, meanwhile others things fell but that was simply from lack of organization… or was it?
Sometimes at night there were creaking noises, meanwhile at other times there were books falling out of place. Maybe Miyako never really noticed since she was quite the hard sleeper but at many times she felt something cold brush past her. Somehow it never bothered her; she only thought that the chill down her spine meant she forgot to put another log in the fireplace as the library grew cooler. At times she could see her breath as she walked down hallways and alleyways in the library which she would attribute to the library being big and not enough heating going around. It never once really occurred to her that the place might actually be haunted just like all the citizens of the city seem to think. That's why most visited the place for Feyhallow and for the candy. But most were simply looking for a chilling adventure. Also most enjoyed the spooky creations that Yako came up with and every year there was more. Giving the place a real haunted feeling is what most loved about the library. During most of the year she barely ever saw anyone come by unless they needed research material and most would simply ask Miyako to do the research and to bring them the findings. It was the only time of the year where she truly did not feel so lonely. It mattered not to her that it was simply one night a year it only mattered that it happened.
However this year it seemed her unlikely resident was not too pleased with the way she had decorated this year as she added more and more each passing year. Every seating place in the library had a strawman in them and the ghost had no place to sit any longer. It was not content with this arrangement as it would usually sit in one of the chairs Miyako did not occupy. But on Feyhallow night it had nowhere to sit. Furious the ghost started throwing down rows of books as it went along book by book displacing it to the ground. After a while as visitors came some wondered if it was just part of the decor and that it had been done on purpose or that maybe somehow Miyako had managed to ensorcele books. To her horror she had never done such a thing and wondered what was actually going on as she heard people speaking about the thumbling books. Yako ran in abandoning her post of handing out candy and went to inspect what had truly happened to her library. It was true there were books all over the place and she wondered maybe if some children of deviant elnins had just simply thrown down some books. Placing them back as the evening passed or if it ever really did in Silveil, she had managed to restore order in her library. But little did she know what really caused the carnage, she went to bed only to find out maybe next year if there was really a ghost haunting these walls.
