Silveil was the smaller region in Eyre and when the miasma season came rolling in it sometimes made the place seem so cramped. For Miyako it wasn’t much of a big issue. Being a scholar she found herself stuck in smaller places with piles and piles of books oftentimes. Being a place where it was always night time it didn’t bother her either as you never knew whether it was night or day. Miya's favorite part was when she couldn’t find the book she was looking for or perhaps the particular passage in a book, she would look out the windows in the library and get lost starry into the night sky. There was no other scenery like it throughout Eyre, the beautiful shining stars and galaxies. The varying colours in the sky that went from beautiful dark blues and purples to sometimes crimson and pink colours. She wondered sometimes how long she lost track of time. It didn’t really matter to her as she would sleep whenever she was tired and worked when she had the inspiration and drive. That was the beauty of living in Silveil City, the place that never slept or the place that never saw the light of day.
Miyako had been excited; she had gotten some petals from Faerindell to try out as a tea. Unfortunately since the Miasma season was coming she wouldn’t be able to get some more until the spring. She would have to ration off whatever she had so that it could last her as long as it could. Her friend had given it to her for her help. She often got her friend books that she needed or rather the information in them. Her amie* wasn’t one much for books but the context that Miya would transcribe to her proved rather helpful for her business. But she really didn’t mind helping her as she often got goodies out of it from all over Eyre. Unfortunately though these gifts came rather scarce during the winter.
For once, her friend needed help that didn't involve books, something which Miyako was unfamiliar with. They needed someone to help them store away their supply before the miasma came. They had various herbal provisions. They owned a shop that made various teas and concoctions. But this year her friend was short-handed as their usual worker fell ill. Miya found herself having volunteered for the job which still puzzled her how it came to be. All she knew was she was promised that floral tea she so loves.
Yako wasn't sure how to be of help as she never did anything but stick her nose in a library but she did have experience with sometimes lifting heavy stacks of books. Her friend instructed her to lift heavy bags of various ingredients and to store them in different locations. Miyako was thinking she was getting the hang of lifting each bag and sometimes tin cans to where she was told to place them. There was a whole system in place of how each ingredient had to be placed so it would be easy for the shop owner to locate what they needed.
Little did poor Miya know she did the placement all wrong. Instead of placing the ingredients by type, she was placing each thing alphabetically which is what she did with books. Turns out though that her friend had a different system. A whole day's work was wasted as they both didn't communicate well enough to follow the same system or organization. When her friend closed the shop for the day and saw how it had been placed, they simply shrugged knowing it would have to be moved all over again. At first Miyako had no idea what was wrong and she didn't think much of it when her friend didn't seem too content. Maybe they had a really long tiring day, especially considering people were trying to stock up for the winter. But then Miya noticed they were starting to move a bunch of things she had previously organized. Yako then realized that she had done it wrong but her friend told her that tomorrow she would try to fix it.
The next day Miyako left her library again to get the job done right. Her friend was delighted she came back to help and she was so ever grateful. This time they would get the organization right. They moved the bags and canisters around by what region of Eyre they were from and then by ingredient. Florals went in one corner, while herbs went in another. The day was going by and eventually Miya was making progress. She had 4 regions done and a few more to go. It was a good thing she was a scholar and had read a lot about different herbs and florals of each region. Especially when she had done a lot of research for her friend previously. It made the job so much easier and faster as she wouldn't have to look up each one to know where they would go. Before she knew it the job was now done and her friend finished closing up the shop and the day was over again.
Yako's friend invited her over for dinner and to thank her for a job well done. She made her something unusual: a soup full of different florals with some honey and a squeeze of lemon. At first she wasn't sure about how it would taste or if she would even like it but after trying one spoonful, Miyako took another and then another. Before she knew it she had finished it. It had some sort of comforting taste. It felt very heartwarming. Her friend told her how it was very good for you and how it was perfect for the coming miasma months that it would keep you healthy as a fiddle for the cold weather. Yako's friend then gave her a whole canister of the floral mixture. It also had a familiar taste to the tea she loved and she was ever so thankful for it. She also had found the perfect place for it in her library for whenever she needed it.
