The chill in the air meant fall was soon approaching. Koko and his mother would be heading back home as they had concluded their business in this part of the Eyre world. But before heading back to Ahza, Nari needed to make a stop in Kyendi. She needed some healing books from Ilrian. Ko was excited he had been there before with his mom and he really liked the floating islands. He wondered how such a thing was possible and how they simply hung in the air and water flowed from them. He certainly was in awe when he looked at them. He also really loved the mountains and how the clouds always hung around them. Its scenery was unlike any other region of Eyre. It seems like its mountains and most of its forests were covered in mist. Koko would constantly try to eat the mist wondering if it had a peculiar taste to it. One should not question the weird habits of this little kittom. Often he saw his pomu Sprite try something and always followed his actions. After all, the two were inseparable and often got themselves in trouble. But after they both had decided that mist was just mist they would find themselves something else to occupy themselves with. Unfortunately this time Ko wouldn’t get to venture out into the wilds and explore ruins and possibly find lost treasure. They would be confined to the place of Scholars.

Books and manuscripts weren’t really his thing. If anything he found them boring and useless. Why would someone rather spend their time reading a book full of old dust, written by someone who might be long gone. Why on earth would anyone want to live in such a place where there was so much dust and old paper? He wasn’t quite fond of the smell either. Upset on his way to visit the scholar, his mother needed manuscripts and books. He threw down a tower of books one by one and scattered them on the floor. Of course Sprite was all ready to help cause chaos. The little pomu started from the top of the pile and threw down books all over. The two were laughing and having the time of their lives. They were quickly forgetting what their task was.

The scholar had wondered if perhaps the small kittom that was being sent for errands had possibly gotten lost, after all this was a very grand library. As he roamed the halls to locate the missing kittom. To his horror he located the said missing kittom and what carnage he had been up to. He had never seen so many valuable books, scrolls and manuscripts simply discarded all over. Some books were laying open while others were on top of scrolls, crushing them. Some manuscripts had lost pages that were now scattered all over. He was absolutely mortified that he yelled out to the kittom and his pomu “ WHAT CARNAGE IS THIS!” Koko and Sprite came to a dead stop as they heard yelling, one with a book in hand and the other with a scroll they froze in place. Ko's eyes were wide open and he knew he was in trouble. The scholar picked up the small kittom and dragged him back to where his mother was.

Nari couldn’t believe what Koko had just done. She apologized to the scholar profusely for her son's actions. She knew he sometimes had a little knack for getting himself into trouble but this was unlike anything he had ever done before. She was absolutely furious and Ko had never experienced his mother furious before. She both ordered her son and the pomu to follow the scholar and fix the part of the library they caused mischief. “ But ma you promised we could go out into the wild a bit before we left!” The kittom exclaimed, but now his dream of galavanting in the wilds was gone. “ You will not “ she replied, “ I am disappointed in you son” she said to him. “ You will go and fix the chaos you created and that is the end of that.”

The scholar brought back Koko and Sprite to the scene of the crime. There were books, scrolls and manuscripts everywhere. It would take them hours if not days to fix all of this. The hours and days went by as Ko and his pomu rearranged the books to their location. Fixed and found the missing pages of the manuscripts placing them back to where they went. They also put back the scrolls to where they belonged. He was so exhausted that he fell asleep in the last pile of books. When we awoke he saw that what he and Sprite had not finished were now back in their place. There was a package that had been left for him. It seems the scholar had heard Ko complain about his dislike for books while he was fixing his mischief. It was a wrapped book, he took it with him but wondered why the scholar even bothered.

He went back to his mother with his tail between his legs and his head down. He knew this time he had really upset her. His mom didn’t bother speaking to him for the rest of the day. Furious as he went to his room, Koko opened the package and was about to rip the pages out of the book when he saw a picture of a dragon in the pages. The image caught his attention. He then sat on the carpet and began to have a closer look at the novel. It was a story about a fire dragon. Koko began to read the story and get wrapped up in its adventure. He fell asleep with the book in hand. His mother was touched and went to place a blanket on the exhausted kittom. She thought to herself maybe after all , what he needed was an interesting story to find a love of books. For the rest of the trip Koko would not put down the book; he was simply wrapped up in the story of this wonderous dragon and his adventures. He wanted to be just like him, breathe fire and soar through the sky. But sadly Ko knew those were just wishes there was no way he could be a dragon but that did not keep him from dreaming. He held on so tightly to the book. It was now his most prized possession. He was going to bring it back home and read the story to his sister Oriana. Maybe she too would find the story fascinating. But before they left Koko went to apologize to the scholar one last time and thank him for the book. The scholar was content; he smiled and patted the small kittom on the head and winked at his mother. The mischief had been forgotten and he told the kittom that if he ever wanted to visit he was more than welcome. He simply hoped he would not ever flip upside down any libraries. A little fire had ignited in the kittom after his trip to kyendi.
