Dragging her newest friend to Ahza hadn't been exactly easy, Suki had to admit, but it had, at the end of the day, been an adventure. Solus had hissed and kicked up a fuss from the moment she had proposed it; he'd expressed his displeasure (re: whined, in Satsuki's most humble opinion), all the way from Kyendi to Ahza. Granted, she was well aware that she could have just made the trip alone, or perhaps even grabbed another friend, or even asked an adult to come with her, but something about the tan kit called to her. She figured perhaps it had to do with the fact that no matter how much he grumbled, he still did things when she or another of the kittoms around asked earnestly. Perhaps it had nothing to do with that, and had everything to do with the fact she just enjoyed pressing people's buttons; it was hard for even her to tell.
The journey had been long, and given she was virtually dragging the tan kittom by the tail in some places, it took them longer to breach the distance than Suki was used to. That, coupled with the rain... had made travel difficult. To be fair though, it wasn't she that had been distressed by the rain, for she felt that most of the hullabaloo going on that had many adults on the edge of their nerves was all, honestly, just that. Superstition, mostly, and nothing that would likely be outright scary or noteworthy. She remembered about the pomu, yes, but hadn't really seen it herself, and hadn't experienced it. The safety she felt in being detached from the ordeal made it easy for her to grab her friend and keep moving, chasing the storms, trying to figure out if perhaps there was something else to them, and it none of that could be ascertained, to at least get a better view of them.
What better place than Ahza for that?
The rolling hills and stormlands made it the perfect place to go storm hunting, and it was this reason she was quite sure Solus had grumbled and fussed the whole way; he, apparently, felt like there was a bit of merit in the fear the adults were expressing, and no matter how many times they discussed it, she couldn't seem to convince him. Every single time, the discussion was ended when the tan kittom would look pointedly at her splintered anima, as if trying to point out that she was not exactly the best judge of the safety of any one place.
Which on one hand... fair, but on the other... the wounds that plagued her body had been received a long time ago, when she was much, much younger, and she was much more fearless. She, by now, at least knew to moderate her sense of adventure, and thought she knew when she was in over her head.
Solus, granted, disagreed profusely on the matter. Which again, fair, but still, Suki felt smug enough to note that for all his grumbling, he HAD come with in the end. As such she felt entitled to feeling she was right, even if she was at least smart enough not to try and argue the point with her dour friend. Still, reaching the stormlands was an accomplishment, what with all the stopping they'd had to do, and Suki was glad that the phenomenon had still been spotted recently enough that she figured they should have little trouble catching it.
As they stepped through the tall grass, she looked around for a nice place to view the oncoming storm from; a nice crop of rocks and a single tree seemed like nice enough shelter and she thus veered towards it. A movement that was caught with the kittom trailing just a few steps behind her, whom let out a put upon sigh but followed all the same, "We could have been back home, enjoying a nice cup of warm beverage, or perhaps, if the fancy had struck us, we could have visited the faire," he commented as he moved to sit under the rock formation as best he could while making sure he was not shoving her out of the shelter, "And yet, instead, here we are... middle of nowhere, in a half soaked field, waiting for..." he stopped, his lip arching a bit in obvious disgust with the idea, "A storm. One, that might I add, we could have likely seen just as well from back home!"
His words were drowned out by the first droplets of light, that fell multicolored upon the ground around them as Suki smiled, "Ah, but we wouldn't have had this lovely view from back home, now would we?" she asked as she tilted her head to look at the falling light; the droplets fell, prismatic in their downpour, and she was distracted for a while from noticing her friend had not really responded to her question, even if it, in truth, had been rather rhetorical in nature.
She turned her head away from the shower to watch Solus, whose head had tilted up towards the sky, watching as the light fell, and though his eyes had remain hooded during their travels and his expression bored, he now seemed rather invested in the phenomenon they were witnessing. It was only when she stared, grinning at him for a while longer, that the tan kittom blinked, and refocused his attention back on his companion, offering her small scowl and a scoff before turning back towards the shower.
He did not answer her, but Suki knew his silence indicated he knew she'd been right, even if only this one time.
