It's no easy thing, to be between spaces, between concepts. Close your eyes and perk up your ears, listen to the sounds of the winds and the gentle chattering of magic and fey folk just beyond the visible. To be proficient enough with your magic to cast spells and survive in a world where the seasons very much want to kill you, but not so much that you can do more than listen to it, and move accordingly.

It's no easy thing to hear the harmony and never sing with the melody of magic. It's the easiest thing of all to swing to the percussion of it. Easier still to be the conductor. Sign a moon around your heart, a reflection of the light and love that you can hear. Open your eyes to read the instruments that are paws and ears and whiskers, guided and held by the ones you love. After all, while solos and soliloquies are the stars of the show, no orchestra sings alone.

Sarynae opened her eyes, relaxing her ears from their perked position, smiling to herself. It was good to be alone, for a little while, to think and listen and relax before throwing herself into the rush and chaos of several siblings and a pair of doting parents. It helped her remember which way was up and which was left versus right.

Her mother would be proud. Rynn could hear more than she could, and that was less to do with her silence and more to do with experience. She also loved to hear Sarynae's stories of her experiences, listening to the magic around her, just as much as she enjoyed watching her other children. It felt almost as good as listening to the music, to be appreciated so much.

She rose from her seated position, stretching. That back leg would be asleep for a few more minutes, and that was her own fault, for sitting in such a strange position. It was well worth it, though. It always was, to see her mother's smile.
