It was like any other night like at Silveil, or, it almost was. Opal walked through the ever busy and boisterous city. The city was usually engaged in many festivities, there was always something for one to do. Whether it be stalls with the region’s food, spaces to gamble the night away, looking for some Elnin “companionship” to run away the cold of night, or other various nighttime activities. Regardless of what one came to Silveil for, everyone could agree that you’d enjoy a fun night under the everlasting nighttime sky, as it was always night in Silveil.

Since there was no light regardless of time in Silveil, many occupants would place lanterns outside to path a way of light. Although, it was a special time of year here in the World of Eyre; The Starfall Faire! A once a year festival that was celebrated in every Region. It was especially special here in Silveil, as many Elnin put out special lanterns and lights out, to celebrate this time of year. Some residents even set up fireworks to celebrate the Faire! As much as the city was for most, for Opal it was too much to bear, she’d rather a quiet quant area to marvel from afar. As such, the small kittom ventured her way towards the forest, and the illuminating lake on the horizon.

The city was luminating in the distance, ever boisterous with their nighttime festivities. Opal could just barely make out the muffled sounds from across the lake. Opal preferred the quietness of the forests and beachy feel of the lake. The forest of Silveil was a spectacle to be seen. All around her, the forest and fauna life emitted a soft glow, a display unique to this region of Eyre. Small and large mushrooms grew under, around, and near the trees. Some were small, while others were large enough for Opal to either lay on top, or under if she so desired. In addition to the warm light given from the mushrooms, there was glowing moss and plants, hugging the trunks of almost every tree for as far as the eyes could see. One of the most beautiful parts of the glowing forest and fauna, was that they weren’t all the same colour. While some emitted the typical blue hue some would expect of the nighttime beauties, many others release an array of tones such as orange, green, yellow and some even purple.

In addition to the beautiful forests, Opal could see the glowing lake laid out before her. With the fluorescent creatures that lay below the calm surface, one could see a gentle glow coming from them. This glow works in harmony with the reflection of the night sky, a mixture of different colours and galaxies.

One would think that there could be no other beauty to behold from Silveil, or that’s what Opal thought. Suddenly a wave of clouds appeared, although they were curious in sight. These particular clouds had not been scene by Opal before, so she was hesitant to walk out of the foliage that protected her. Suddenly a crash sounded above and a cacophony of multi coloured lightening and rain poured forward. “Coloured….rain?”, Opal thought. What was this madness?! This was new and unheard of to her! Ever the curious one, Opal slowly walked forward out of the safety of the forest to get a better look. The site before her was absolutely magical. The rainbow coloured raindrops formed a kaleidoscope of of fractaled colours as they fell from the skies above. The thunder, lightening, and raindrops pelting on the lake made a symphony of sounds and rippling light on the surface of the glowing water. Even the beach waves of the iridescent water, mixed in with the now faded multi coloured raindrops, made a rainbow of dyed splotches that slowly faded back into the luminous lake.

Opal was mesmerized by what she saw before her. “Oh my! This is absolutely wonderful! Is this the rare light storm known as Prismatic Rain!?”, she proclaimed out loud to herself. A wonder she had only read before in dusty old books found in libraries she frequented. Her earlier fright and hesitation now morphed into interest and awe, Opal began to frolic around the lake, enjoying the feel of the rain on her white fur, as well as the colours it made on herself.

Oh this is just wonderful, absolutely wonderful and beautiful, Opal thought to herself, and then she saw the reflection of the sky and gasped. “Oh my! The stars and galaxies above are reflected as different colours!” She said with sheer excitement. You see, Opal loves colours, and the picture she saw before her was one she’d remember for all her days. The reflection of the galaxies and stars shattered into numerous colours. As the prismatic raindrops mixed together, they blended with the already beautiful mixture of luminous water and shining galaxy lights.

“Maybe a nighttime swim is in order”, Opal thought to herself. “Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to see the colours of the rain while I’m in the water”. She shivered with excitement with the prospect of swimming in a multi coloured illuminating lake. With no hesitation, Opal ran towards the lake, through the beach like waves, and dove like a swan right into the water of the lake. “I wonder what I’ll see! Ooooooh, I’m so excited!,” she shouted with joy in her mind. Holding her eyes closed for a few seconds, to gather herself and calm her erratic heartbeat caused by her pure exhilaration. She counted in her head, “1, 2, ……3!” and opened her eyes, almost gasping and gulping some water. “Magnificent, gorgeous, amazing!” Opal thought in her head. Before her, she witnessed a spectacle even more beautiful than she saw above land.

The prismatic lights had, for all intents and purposes, infused with the luminosity of the lake. The colours blended together in a sort of shattered rainbow light, harmonious and pure. The beauty of the fractaled coloured painted a beautiful scene before her, melding with the aquatic life. Everything around Opal was both multicoloured, and shining with the dazzling radiance only seen at Silveil’s lake.

It was a beautiful spectacle to be seen, yet all things must come to an end, and so, as the prismatic rain dropped its final coloured drop, Opal was content, happy with how she celebrated the Faire, and began her trek home. As she slept through the night, whatever could be considered night in Silveil, she dreamed of multicoloured fractal lights of water, painting beautiful scenes as she slept contently.
