The time had passed so differently here and he was enjoying the weather. It was as if the spring was eternal here and flowers never stopped blooming. He loved getting up in the morning and smelling the fresh floral scented air. He knew why his mother always loved coming back here at least once a year. He had endless hours of fun with his pomu in the fields and running across the bed of petals. He always smelled wonderful as if he was a flower himself. At times it wasn’t all fun and games as Koko would help his mom gather some ingredients and prepare bindings. He would also take some interest in her occupation and how she helped others. She really had a way with people and she was very gentle. Her nature is what he loved most about her and it made him the proudest to call her mom. Ko wondered sometimes if he could be as good as her when he grew up.

The day before he had been hard at work helping his mother gather some petals that she would use for medical concoctions. But unfortunately these were more for soothing purposes. The more rare herbs and florals were found in Enmir.   Nonetheless, Koko was the happiest to help and even Sprite was helping gather. Besides there nothing he liked more than spending his time outside in the glens of Faerindell and more specifically in Elenion. It was his favorite place and he couldn’t understand how the Eldertree never stopped blooming its marvelous pink petals. He adored the smell of the florals and the fragrance. There was nothing like this back home and so he reveled in it. He couldn’t help himself every now and then to just roll around the grass and small meadow flowers covered in beautiful petals. Sprite always did what he did as he was a very mischievous little pomu. The little companion probably stored as many petals as he could in the shadows. Koko wondered if maybe his little friend got rid of everything else he had asked him to hold on to. He often saw him simply rolling in the petals and throwing them in the air. So when he said the pomu helped… well maybe that was an exaggeration. But somehow it never bothered Ko that his pomu was wild; he enjoyed his company and his wild antics.

But something in the air felt different these past few days, as if a storm was approaching. Storms weren’t something that really occurred here in Faerindell. But it was something Ko was familiar with coming from Ahza where there was a place further up that always had lightning storms. The air had a wet smell to it and he could feel the moisture in his fur. That’s when he knew a rain was coming. He seeked shelter with Sprite and his mother quickly found them. She had a very worried expression which is something Koko had never seen before. His mother was usually the softest and always had a bright aura around her. He had never experienced the worried side of her. She told him something strange was coming and it would be better if they made their way back to the shrine. She told him the story of how something like this happened two years ago and that the pomus vanished during this time. She was hoping that nothing like this would happen this year as she knew her son was very attached to his little friend and he had found it hard during the season where the pomus vanish and become lanterns.

Having made it in time to the shrine, from the corner of his eye Koko saw something he had never seen before. Random colorful lights fell from the sky and hit the ground and quickly disappeared. It was as if it was raining a rainbow. He was absolutely amazed and curious. He wanted to touch the rain and the raining lights. It was so beautiful and almost a miracle. Ko began to wonder how such a thing was even possible that he began to bombard his mother with questions to which she did not know the answer too. All she knew was that Eyre was full of wonders and unpredictable events. But as both discussed the light rain no one paid attention to the little pomu Sprite and he was even more curious about the rain than anyone. For he decided to step out of the shrine and go dance in the rain. Up he jumped as he tried to catch and eat the pieces of lights that came in a bright array of colours. But never fully being able to as they would always dissipate before he could taste one. Instead he decided to taste the rain sticking out his tongue as it fell from the sky.

After a long discussion with his mother it occured to Koko, that he knew not where Sprite had gone and to his horror he saw the little guy out in the rain. Grabbing an umbrella he ran to pick up his pomu telling him what he was doing was bad. But somehow the little one had not disappeared which is what his mother had worried about. He seemed fine and simply having the time of his life. Seeing this Koko decided maybe the rain wasn’t harmful and he threw his umbrella and decided to join in on the fun. As they both danced and hopped in the rain trying to catch the lights that hit the ground. His mother from afar shrugged but decided maybe this time the rain wasn’t harmful and simply let her son enjoy his time with his pomu and whatever trouble they might get themselves into.
