The weather had seemed promising lately as the morning sun had risen but quickly in the afternoon the clouds came rolling in. Koko had high hopes for his daily adventure into the wilds of the forests of Bellmoril. But unfortunately today he was forced to come back in from his little fort he had built himself. During the time that his mother Nari would be working during the day, he had found the perfect spot to build his little fort. Everyday he would go out and scatter the forest for the next thing he could add to his little house. Unfortunately he had not found the perfect material for a roof. The forests of Bellmoril had the most beautifully colored leaves of red to yellow tones but sadly these were not useful to fashion for his use as they got wet and rotted away over time. This is something poor little Ko had found out in the worst way. A day like today was the perfect example for why this was not useful. Last time he had gotten rained on and caught a cold. His mother had warned him to stay at the inn during those days. It was her job to help around the towns and treat others but it was in her books to treat Koko as well. Not that she minded but more because if he had simply listened to her it would have never happened. Instead as he looked out the wind and peeked at the ongoing storm that seemed to not settle anytime soon, he wondered if his little camp would even make it through. From where he was from he had seen storms but these were quite different. It rained for hours on end with no means of slowing down. Soon if it didn’t stop he was afraid everything would flood. Maybe his camp would simply wash away in the storm.

As the rainy storm kept on going Koko could no longer sit and be a bystander he wanted to go out and make sure his fort would make it. He had worked so hard day in and day out to make it like his tiny nook, gathering all sorts of goodies and nick nacks to call it home. He had gotten quite homesick being in a place that was colder and a lot more humid than what he was normally used to. Sure he really loved the erray of beautiful colours he saw each day when he looked out into the trees. But there was something about home that was different and Bellmoril  just wasn't cutting it for him. But once he found a project and something to keep his mind busy Koko was even more happy here. He finally felt like he belonged here and he had built his own special spot. It even had treasures he had been carrying with him all along. Ko had fixed up a small shelf in his little hut where he was displaying his treasures. But now with that rain he wondered if anything survived. Thinking about his trinkets he had made up his mind he was going to go make sure his things were going to make it through this storm.

More prepared this time Koko set out fully dressed for the rain with these awkward clunky boots made of rubber, a cute yellow boat and a yellow raincoat. Surely people could see him a mile away. His mother had gotten him this wear to make sure he didn’t catch a cold again from the rainy weather. To him it wasn’t so pleasant and made him look like an awkward walking yellow duck. But if it kept his mother happy he would wear it for her. But before he bolted out the door he had noticed his mother had left a package for him. There was a beautiful and perfectly shaped golden tree leaf attached to it with a note. The leaf seemed familiar to him and as he read the note he realized his mother had found his journal detailing everything about his nook and where it was and what was missing to complete it. Turns out his mother was one step ahead of him. She had gathered some rainproof material, spikes and rope for him. He knew he didn’t thank his mom enough everyday for all she did for him. Tonight he would make sure to be clean and presentable and start the stew for her.

Koko wasn’t about to lose another minute as he rushed out the door with his gift and ran at first as fast and far as he could. Soon realizing that running in the rain wasn’t the best decision he slowed down. Taking a few deep breaths he kept on going in his little rubbery duck suit. It even made some squeaky sounds at times. But one thing he couldn’t complain about was getting wet. It kept him nice and dry. Ko had finally made it to his destination, thinking the worst at first he took a long look around the perimeter and most of it seemed intact. His wooden structure had held up in this torrential rain. But now what he was mostly afraid of was what damage was done on the inside. Cracking the door open he looked around quickly and most seemed fine as he saw that a few things had fallen to the ground but stayed trapped within the wooden beams. Koko quickly got to work and began to drape over his roofing material, but being alone was hard as it kept getting caught in the wind. These wet cold winds made him suddenly miss the dry sandy winds of Azha. But one thing was for sure this little nook wouldn’t even be possible there as he wouldn’t be able to find it the next day due to the sand winds and he would never be able to drive a spike into the sand. One thing for sure he would miss when they would eventually leave the wet smell of leaves. At this moment it wasn’t his worry, gathering the strength he finally managed to drive in one spike around and away he went to the next ones. Once he was finally done he was so proud he had saved his hut. He went back inside and arranged back his furniture, dishes and trinkets he had all over. Maybe one day he could bring his mom to see the place. He thought fondly in his heart imagining him showing his mother what he’s been doing. Koko was sure she would be proud of him. But little did he know that she had been watching him from afar that day with a proud smile. Nari thought to herself that he was just like his father Ha-ru.
