Oh! Whoops heh, thought the sight of the city on the way up might be enough, and focused too much on the horizon view rather than the immediate view, but that makes sense! owob

Let me add a couple more details in now!

Thanks,
Nali

~ the storm upon mount kisei ~

Today is the day. The day... I CLIMB TO THE TOP OF MOUNT KISEI! A small lava themed kittom thinks to himself, his lop ears bouncing steadily as he exits the house, backpack filled with snacks he had stolen from the pantry with his sister Hiroka, weighing heavily on his back.  His orange - red gradiented eyes, narrow with determination as he makes his way out of the town of Sulapei, following the boardwalkways steadily upwards, and humming to himself along the way. While Mount Kisei, wasn't the highest mountain in all of Kyendi, it was at least the tallest one in the closest vicinity, and Da, has always said that when he was young he climbed the mountain with his mentor Airi and you were able to see all the way to Silveil's eldertree with ease! Well, if Da can do it, so can I! He thought, blowing his gently glowing blond tuft of hair out of his eyes. As he climbed up the ever steep mountains surrounding Sulapei, he couldn't help but stop and admire the view. Mist gently weaved inbetween the local architecture of the city further below. Big white and grey clouds moved fast overhead, causing the jewelled terraces of rice crops to glint in the sparse sunlight. Content, with his progress, the little black and orange nin sat on a small stone bench and pulled out a few white sweet buns to munch on. Da, Hiroka and I had made them a couple of days ago, and while no longer fresh, the soft fluffy bread still made a delicious filling snack on the way to the top of the world. Feeling rejuvinated by his short stop-over, Calcifer shrugged back on his backpack - albeit a little lighter now that he no longer had to carry the 3 buns of fluffy bread -  and continued maneuvering his way up. The boardwalks had finally led him to the mid-point of Mount Kisei.

The mountain itself had quite a lot of foliage lining the paths, but the higher in altitude you got, the less trees and bushes you began to see. The mist rolled in thick behind him, and as Cal looked up at the sky, he was alarmed to find the fast moving clouds had quickly become a large expansive group of dark stormclouds, gathering over top of him. Cursing his luck, Cal trekked upwards, eagerly searching for a large tree, or natural cave in the side of Mount Kisei. After 20 minutes of hiking and keeping a keen-eye out, Calcifer saw a flash of light, followed by a rumble of thunder in the distance. Oh no... he thought to himself, if I don't find shelter soon I'm going to be caught in one of those crazy light storms Da always talked about! He sped up his pace climbing up the mountain quickly and surely searching his surroundings for any form of shelter he could find.

"Psst. Hey you! It's going to storm! Come over here!" a soft melodic voice called out to him. Cal quickly looked around, searching for the owner of the voice till he found a small cave, enshrined behind a small thicket of bamboo leaves he hadn't seen before! As he hurried over to the cave, he yelped as the first few drops of rain fall fell around him. Quickly he ran over to the cave, his small meadow tail bouncing, breathing a sigh of relief as he finally sits in the gloom of the small cave. Only his golden luminous suffusion streaks and dots in his fur lighting up the cave.

"Thanks. I was almost a gonner." Cal said looking around for the nin who had called out for him. As his eyes adjusted to the dimmer light, he saw the black marsh tail of another kittom swishing back and forth as they seemed to be striking two rocks together over some moss. In a few minutes a small fire had been setup, and he peered curiously, as the small black kittom turned around. "CHANTILLY?! What're you doing here?!" Cal gaped, at his sister's best friend. The small jet black nin, smiled, the white lacy markings dimly lit by small sparkles of stars and the silvery gilded anima glinting softly in the dim light.

"Heh, I could ask you the same thing Cal! I-I thought, I'd go for a walk for inspiration! But... well... I-I forgot to ch-check the weather forecast and h-here I am." she said with a shrug, her pale lacy winglets quivering as she rubs her paws together and gets closer to the fire. "I-I didn't think it'd g-get so c-c-cold up here..." she said softly, as a blast of cold wind came through the cave entrance, bringing with it a few spattering of rain.

"OH! Hold on! I've got just the thing! Good thing Da taught me a few tricks" he said slinging off his backpack, and rummaging through it before finding a bright red scarf, and offering it to her.

"B-but what about you?"

"Oh pshhh" Cal said puffing up his luminous blond mane up with pride. "A gentleman, never lets a lady go cold!" he said with a wink. "Or... at least that's what Dad says." shrugging, he settled down next to Chantilly, staring outside at the rain for a while, oblivious to the blush on the female kittom's cheeks. Suddenly another bolt of lighting struck nearby, and the loud clap of thunder made both kittoms jump. "Man... what a crap day to go hiking, huh? OH! I brought some snacks! Would you like some chocolates from Kawaii-Hearts? I was saving them to be my victory snack when I got to the top of Mt. Kisei... but, eh, why not eat them now?" he said turning around and rummaging through his bag for the large box of chocolates he'd stolen from the pantry earlier in the day. Before carefully unwrapping them and offering the brown and green patterned box to his friend.

"What?! A-are you sure? Well... thanks Cal" she said softly, grabbing a sakura themed one and gently nibbling away at it. The two of them spent the afternoon chatting and sharing stories, and after a couple hours, they'd almost completely forgotten about checking the weather outside, until a small ray of sunlight fell across Calcifer's face. Excited, the duo packed up the empty chocolate box back into Calcifer's bag, and headed outside, climbing Mt. Kisei together. As the pair crested the top, they gaped at the view.  In front of their eyes they could see the beautiful  Kyendi Eldertree with it's long graceful willow branches and leaves, waving in the winds from the recent storm, now that it had passed their mountain, and barely glistening the lake of the nearby city of Eiloen. To their left, mysterious floating golden and orange shards peeping from between the mists of the sky, a few a few airships, tied up to some of them bobbed up and down in the rough wind conditions. Further in the distance ahead, they could even make out Silveil's darkly shaded purple forests, and even the glittering Silveil city! To their right, the pale pink eldertree of Faerindell was barely visible and on the horizon further past the Sunshard Isles, a large expanse of ocean and a green tree island in the far off distance....

"Woah... what a view!" Cal said in awe at the sight, letting out a low whistle.

"Indeed!" Chantilly said, nodding and opening her small satchel and pulling out a sketchpad and pencil, drawing the beautiful scene before her.  The storm... had passed.
