Normally, Ahza would be the absolute last place one would expect to find Caspian. For one, it’s really, really hot, and the little blue kittom doesn’t do very well in the heat. It makes him too sleepy (not in the good way) and it’s much too bright (it hurts his eyes) with too little shade (very few trees to nap under). He slept pretty much the whole way from the boat to the town surrounding the oasis when his foster family arrived in the region. 

The rich grasslands towards the north of the region are much more habitable compared to the hot, gritty sand, but even there, the sun is relentless in the peak daylight hours. There may not be many trees there, either, though luckily there are rivers and lakes for him to splash around in to stave off the heat. It’s really pretty to look at despite all that, covered by prairies rolling with grasses greener than Bellmoril’s yellow fields and taller than Faerindell’s farmlands. The layered hills sometimes hide cave systems for him to explore, too. So Ahza’s not all bad!  

Farther still to the north, however, it gets scary. He doesn’t dare venture too close to the region’s upper edge in fear of the rampant thunderstorms that frequently rage throughout the plains. It’s like the region has to make up for the dryness of the vast desert by having a constant downpour of rain to come flood the lower lands. Even from a far distance, each and every clap of thunder makes him jump.  

His favorite place to be here is by the spring at the foot of Bejali. The elder tree provides plenty of cover for the harsh sunlight, and the water is calm and just deep enough to swim with his head below water, exactly the way he likes it. This is probably where he’ll spend the majority of his family vacation…
