Now that the miasma months had passed, Starrie had been patiently awaiting her trip to Silveil City. She had heard all the good things about the place, especially for it’s moonlit and starlit scenery. Her things were all well prepared for the adventure. One thing she was looking forward to is having a street food she heard good things about. It didn’t seem to bother her that the city was known for stealing, it made it all the more exciting for her.
Once she got to the city, she took a good look around and everything fascinated her. But mostly what caught her attention was the sky. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The moon itself shone so bright. It was almost as if the moon was made of silver, wondering maybe if that is where the city got its name. The stars were just as beautiful, twinkly lights covering the sky almost as if you were stuck in a galaxy. The city was also bustling with so much light that it was almost blinding. All the street vendors and buildings were lit up and the noise was as if the city never slept. Starrie had only brought enough pocket money to get herself some food and in her bag she only brought what she needed to sleep and useful things for camping. She was really planning to make it to a beachside and sleep under a starlit sky. But first she had to find the food she had heard about.
Her search took her through the streets as she saw many different shops and food carts offering almost anything possible but what she was really looking for. Getting a bit frustrated she had lost track of time. At this point she wondered if she might as well give up on her dream snack and simply settle for one of the other food carts. Her stomach started to rumble, putting her paws on it “ I know you’re hungry” she said as she shrugged. “None of this is what we are looking for. Remember what we heard. A rice cake that looks like the galaxy sky will with a delicious cold but sweet filling.” At this point she was in despair and she was ready to eat anything she set her eyes upon. When she had finally decided on eating a bowl of ramen, reaching into her bag, her pocket money had disappeared. At first Starrie thought she might have misplaced it , as she kept searching through her things. Everything else seemed present and accounted for except for the money. She had heard before coming here that people did steal a lot but she thought maybe those were just stories. But it seems at some point and time as she searched through the streets of Silveil City someone had put their stingy paws on her pocket change. Discouraged and absolutely famished Starrie threw herself on the ground. Tears began streaming down her cheeks, her trip so far had not been going according to plan. “I’M GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH” she yelled out in the streets but no one seemed to care or take notice of her current state. She shrugged when no one seemed to even give her a look and she wiped the tears off her cheeks. People here did not seem as friendly or helpful as she had hoped. Starrie gathered back her things, putting back her bag on her shoulder she figured maybe she could still go to the seaside and enjoy the starlit night and sleep under the moon. She could also try to fish for her own food. At this point it was better than starving.
As she made it to the seaside her exhausted body finally gave out as she crumbled to the ground. She thought this was the longest she had ever gone without food. Her stomach rumbled again as her eyes filled with tears again. “It will be ok I will find something to eat for you even if it’s only seaweed” placing her paws on her belly talking to it as if it was a person. She took a deep breath and smelled the air that was full of salt. Something about the waves and smell of the beachside lulled her to sleep. Before she even knew it she had passed out from hunger and tiredness. Starrie began to dream about the snack she most desired. The rice cake dough that was purplish blue with a milky way on it as if it was actual stardust on it. It smelled so sweet and tasty that her mouth was salivating. She kept on dreaming of it and it’s filling, some sweet iced creamy texture that tasted of berries and moonlight. Her eyes opened as her dream ended with her about to bite into it. Something seemed to have startled her. Starrie rubbed her eyes with her paws as she saw something in the distance on the beach. She squinted, not believing what her eyes were seeing. On the other side of the beach there was a merchant cart, no one else was around and she thought it might be a bit strange for it to be there at this hour. Maybe she was still dreaming at this point but she didn’t seem to mind. Starrie decided to approach it as she seemed to smell something sweet in it’s direction. Her hunger took over and before she knew it she had made her way to it. How she even made it that fast over there didn’t even seem to puzzle her. She looked up at the vendor but before she could say anything her eyes began to sparkle. What she had been after was right in front of her eyes. That snack she was dreaming about and it looked even better in person. It was even more beautiful and sparkly in person. “STARLIT MOCHI MAY I HAVE ONE PLEASE” she yelled out before even realizing she didn’t have any more money to pay for it. The merchant smiled at her and simply handed it one to her, without even asking for payment. “Thank you so much” her eyes were full of sparkle and her smile was so wide. It was the most delicious thing she had eaten, it was even better than what she had imagined. It really did taste of stardust and moonlight with a hint of cream and berries. Something was even magical about this treat just like the scenery. Her eyes were still full of wonder and she began to set her camping equipment now that her hunger had been satiated she wanted to enjoy the rest of the night sky. Her eyes began to close before she knew it, blinking a few times as she rubbed her eyes, she looked around and the vendor was gone. She shrugged as she had no idea how she would ever repay them for the tasty treat. But one thing for sure she would always remember her adventure to Silveil City and it’s remarkable sky. If she ever came back she would make sure to guard her money better, that she knew. Who knew maybe she had dreamt about eating her mochi after all?
